Greetings Guys,

I'm in the process of buying a low mileage SDR on the east coast and thought I'd pop in to check out your forum. I own multiple Triumphs and love the triple engine but thought I'd try a KTM twin for something different. I've yet to come across another Duke in the Michigan area but I'll keep my eyes open for one this summer.

Happy to be here and looking forward to learning much for your collective experience and posts.

Thanks much... Scott Miller

Hello, Scott:

I will "introduce myself" as a new member to the forum also, later, but just wanted say I just bought an R myself only last Friday! I don't have it yet and don't know for sure when I will, but with both of us being new to the bike at about the same time, I'll enjoy sharing impressions with you soon, I'm sure.

I'm in Texas so unfortunately won't be meeting up to see your bike and doing any riding anytime soon! By the way, I did look at a very nice never-titled '08 standard SD on-line at Bennett Powersports in Marlette, MI before making the deal on the R. Maybe someone would be interested in it. All black and about 900 miles. They posted a vid at YouTube for me so I could see the standard bike, in case anyone here would like to look.

Anyway, congrats on that R!
Steve

Welcome on board guys.

Whip out the secondary flies and shafts for sure as that is cheap as chips, you have to turn off with TuneECU. RC8 velocity stacks work well with the second flies removed.
If you have the funds take off that air box off and fit an after market. Motobox or Rottweiler or if your feeling very flush a DNA mk3 perhaps. Those mods will release the beast in the LC8
Scott, yes I thought Bennett was asking a bit too much as well. I didn't find my R until after I had already started talking to Bennett about that standard SD. I actually offered them about a hundred less than they were asking, but total out the door including 6% MI sales tax, and they countered, but I made a deal on the R quickly after I found it. So that ended the talks with Bennett. Nice folks there tho'. Answered all my questions, they went to the trouble of posting the YouTube vid, etc. I'd have no problem buying from them if they had something we could deal on.

Whereabouts in Texas will you be in July? If it's close, I also have a 2003 BMW R1100S Boxer Cup Replika in the stable and maybe we could go for a ride. I might even let you ride the SDR!
Oberst Klinck, I can tell from my short time here already that I have much to learn and I need to start delving into the tech forum straightaway. Thanks for the tips...
