Just brought home a new to me 08 SD. Bought it from a buddy of mine who scored an amazing deal on a new 1290R.

Moving up to the SD from a DRZ 400SM, this should be a hoot.

Will post up some pics after I take a couple of decent ones.

Hey Davinci,

Welcome in!

Lots of information to be had in this forum. The 990 has been around since 2005 so you may need to look deep into the forum's bowels as many, if not all, questions have been answered before.

Nice looking bike you have there.
Congrats and welcome!
Comrade: Welcome aboard. 2008 was a great vintage.
Hi and welcome,

The SD990 is sweet bike, as is the DRZ400SM. I have the full fat 'E' version as my trail bike.
Thanks guys.

I've been lurking around here gleaning information as soon as I knew I was buying it. Luckily, it's belonged to one of my good friends/riding buddy since it was new, and as is obvious, he kept it well maintained.

I'll be "blacking" it out in the near future (have CF tank panels enroute) Of course there's an R&G tail tidy and some aero signals for up front waiting to be installed.

I do like the atmosphere in this forum.
Finished making the changes I wanted.

Finally got to take it out for a small ride today (been raining since I bought it).

Whoo boy, that thing's a blast, gonna take some acclimation, that's for sure!
Since you bought the 990 SD I wanted, I had to get the 990 SMR!

I assumed that you had bought his when he wouldn't give me a price and you started posting pics on thumper squad!

It is looking good buddy!
Thanks.

This deal went into to process at light speed. I don't think he actually wanted to sell, I had to do a little arm twisting.
It looks to me like you two will be meeting up one Monday morning at Barber Motorsports park sometime in april. Congratulations on your new purchases let the game begin.
To you jealous riders across the pond Barber Motorsports park is a beautiful racetrack with an exquisite motorcycle museum. It is actually in Leeds not Birmingham , don't know where those two names come from though I have heard of an album called Live At Leeds.
Welcome mate. Nice to see a 990 on here after so many 1290s!
