Just wanted to say hi, I'm from London, UK Started riding in summer 2013 and got a 690 Duke III as my first bike. Went to get it serviced a month ago but walked out with a 2008 990 Super Duke R instead I figure there's a load of you dumping them in favour of the 1290 SDRs...shame on you...lucky for me

Thanks for all the info that's been posted on this forum (found out the 2008 SDR had the uprated 130hp engine ) and all kinds of servicing and technical stuff! It really helped when buying the bike and now understanding it. Like trying to figure out if my Oberon clutch slave is leaking (unlikely) or the clutch push rod seal (wasn't replaced too long ago) anyway I'm sure I'll find the answer.

Loving the bike so far, it's so nimble and I'm getting used to filtering with it around town...without looking like a complete noob. I've got it with the retro round Akro cans which I'm pretty sure is the cause of my tinnitus but that's the price of owning an awesome sounding machine! As to future plans...well it's mental enough for me atm so I won't be modding for at least a year (sorry!) but I'd like to take it touring around Europe! The standard Powerparts seat isn't that uncomfortable

To my eyes at least, it's probably one of the prettiest bikes ever made and as someone else said on here definitely a future classic! Here she is, pretty much all stock but I'm a fan of minimalism so stock works.

They are definitely a classic. I own the same bike but with a few extra mods. Also a hook on the track and places like Brands Indy and Cadwell can more than hold their own with the big boys.

Congratulations, you bought a great bike I had some problems with mine in the past, but all sorted now and I will definitely keep it for a while
