02 sensors reinstalled....

Ok, so I took my bike in for the 9k service after fitting the Motobox. I took it to the most reputable LC8 mechanic I could find after asking around. Glad I did. Valves adjusted,'TBs synched, etc, etc. It is all done & ready for pickup, which I can't pull off till tomorrow. Grrrrr....

Anyway, when I spoke with him over the phone, he told me he reactivated the 02 sensors & did the all systems reset(let bike idle for 15 min), and said she is running awesome. I know the norm around here is to do the 02 elimination mod, which I had, as well as the Akra map flashed in.

My question is,'has anyone else done this? Does the Akra map even work w/the 02 sensors?

I mean, this mechanic knows his stuff, and who am I to second guess a seasoned mechanic, right? What do you guys think?

Hi there Matt, very interesting. My SD is bone stock & I am just about to fit a set of Akras & send it in for it's first service & get the Akra map installed. I plan on blanking off/disabling the SAS as from what I've read it makes no sense to keep when running after market pipes with no Cat. converter. I was going to get the O2 sensor eliminators, mainly to clean up the snatchy throttle a bit....but from reading your story, I would be very interested to know why your mechanic has reinstalled them. Maybe some guys here on the forum in the know how (& I know there are a bunch of you...lol) could shed some light on this for us. Look forward to some replies, cheers.

for the 15 min reset, the 02 sensors are required to be connected for it to work 100% but really you can get away with out them

rob1, put your akra's on and ride it, if you put the akra map in it will be pig rich, better yet install 'James' map with tuneecu. Experiment yourself by disabling the O2's (tuneecu) and check the differences, no need to buy O2 plugs with tunnecu...

Well, with the 02s reconnected on the advice of my mechanic after the motobox install, I must say the bike runs 10x better than it did before I did the install...

Maybe this is due to the motobox, or to the valves being adjusted to spec as well as the throttle bodies balanced, or ???? There is no stumbling or jerking whatsoever.

I have no idea what the air/fuel is like, or what kind of power it is making, that is TBD when/if I get it dyno tuned. Maybe the FI system is better than it has been thought to be(once the bike is modded)?

I don't know enough about these things to form any conclusions, just posting up my observations. Anyone else?
