Have any of the old guard [05 owners] had a chance to ride a 07 yet?

I love my bike, and it's in very good condition, but will be two years old soon, so I'm wondering how the new one rides and is it worth forking out an extra 3k or so to have a bit better fuel range and another two years waranty...

The new tyres needed will be noted by the dealer too, you'll pay for them anyhow...


Yesterday I was in a KTM showroom and I had a long look at a black 07 and 06 bike standing next to each other. Maybe I'm biased and this is very personal too but I really think the 05/06 bikes looks much better. This dealer said that, unfortunately, most people said the same.

The very angular lines of the 07 take some getting used to for me. The bigger fuel tank looks exactly that, MUCH bigger visually. Almost lumpy. In contrast to the fat tank the headlight-dash section looks weird, tiny and (too) small, especially from the riders view.

At this point it's unknown if the new fuel maps will work on 05/06 bikes. I do know that the part # of the ECU hasn't changed. If not, a PCIII, TuneBoy or Rapid Bike module can solve any fueling problems.

So my position stays the same, I'll wait for the next model SD probably due for 09 and skip the current face lifted model with a poor nose job...

There were other less publicized changes, like the heads, reshaped intake ports and combustion chamber, injector tips, mapping for quicker duty cycle, some midrange torque was gained.
The way I ride I still have to stop for fuel in a little over 100 miles, I couldnt even imagine dealing with the range of the smaller tank unless it was all city riding.

How do they compare ride wise?

...so to sum up......nobody has any opinions what so ever about how the 05/06 ( with usual mods?) compares to the 07?......

...go on prove me wrong someone i dare ya!!!!!!

Or........ is it really because all you guys bought the new one and it aint as good as the older one and you dont want to admit it to your selves never mind the rest of us?

OK we agree Fuelling and Ignition are better [smoother] on the 07,, my next question is. Has anybody fitted the Akra's and Map to a 07, is the map specific to the 07, and does it keep the nice smooth fueling, low speed running? Or does it use a similar 05 style [good for a racetrack] style map?
