07 SD 22k miles. Can I do a long distance ride??

I'm planning on doing a long distance ride around 5k miles. There will be a pretty good amount dirt around 1k. my question is do you think the SD can handle this? if so what wheels should I be using and is there anything special I should bring with me, tools, ect???

Also my buddy is going with me he rides a ER-6n kawi, any tips on what wheels for him?

don't you mean tyres?

make sure your waterpump seal has been changed recently. and do bring your tools and a good flat repair kit with air supply.

Where are you headed?

If you know how to ride in the dirt you will be fine. If there is going to be a lot of loose surface a Scotts damper can help things a bit. Stock tyres are fine on hard pack. You would want something with a higher sea to land ratio for anything else. Not a whole lot of choice in 17s. Bald front tyres are shit for braking on gravel so favor your rear. Take it slow until your comfortable. She steers nice with the rear. Standing on the pegs when surface is rough helps a ton.
