I am new to this forum. I just started reading it the other day. Great info and it has made me more enthusiastic about getting a SupeDuke!
I currently have 3 bikes: 08 KTM EXCR, 08 Harley Nightrod Special, 1994 Ducati 888 LTD. (I used to have a Ducati Monster 900).
I am trying to decide about getting a SD or SDR. I read some other posts here but it still has me pretty confused.
I plan on doing mainly Sunday morning rides on twisty mountain roads and a few track days a year. (I race a Porsche 997 Cup car with the Porsche Club so my track day time is already busy). I am short 5'7" (at best) so the seat height is somewhat of a concern. Comfort is also somewhat of a concern because a typical Sunday morning ride is usually 1.5 to 2 hours before stopping for breakfast or a quick break and then 1.5 to 2 hours back home.
I currently ride the Ducati 888 for the Sunday morning rides. I am not a great rider but I am not horrible. I hope doing some track days/school will improve my ability. (On the mountain roads I ride on I am very close to dragging my knee even at relatively low speeds because of the turns being pretty tight radius - not quite there yet. But I also have 2 kids at home which I think about every Sunday morning ride - slows me down a bit).
I LOVE the look of the SDR! The standard SD is pretty cool looking but it doesn't get me as excited as the SDR. I have NOT riden either bike. I am not sure what to do. Please help me out before I miss out on some great deals on these bikes. (I can get a brand new 08 SD in either black or orange for $10,500 from a dealer 2 hours away from me or I can get a brand new SDR for $13,500 plus $400 shipping from a dealer 1200 miles away from me).
