I LOVE the way the power comes on!!!
The best part is, I can out cold refuse to let my dumb friends ride it as they will surely crash it, or best case, look retarted much as I did the first week of ownership.

#6all that white background scares me... those horror stories scare me sounds like the storm is brewing and many people have spring fever and it scares me...
Those are some highly unfortunate circumstances, hope the tide turns, the people will get the right map and not crash so we can live in peace. I like bikes and the pumpkin's power delivery, feel sorry for folks with the snatch.
Many here know my story, just like the guy in bed but I do not remember anything, only that the bike was ok and I had 21 broken bones and a punctured lung.... but that did not scare me...

#8Nope. People just need to learn how to ride a big twin and be able to handle it.
After riding my SuperDuke for 2 years I find it quite predictable, the only time I've ever had any issues with on-off response was caused by riding on ice. Using the clutch as well as throttle control made it quite manageable though. That's my $0.02US

#9Wow. I'm torn. Part of me tends to discount this kind of talk because I haven't had any trouble with fueling and I'm not very skilled. But on the other hand these guys claim to have way more experience than me and (at least one) to have impartial confirmation. But then on another hand I can't imagine how any bike would spit enough fuel into the engine to wheelie and slide out the back end without throttle input. But on yet another hand I can't imagine why someone would waste the time to post something they made up or just to try to feel better by blaming their crash on something outside of their control. Now that I have 4 hands, I'm going to stop thinking about it and ride.

btw, anyone else finding it odd that amidst loud shouts of terrible fuelling, faulty brakes and leaky engines that their bike has none of these?
did i just get a decent one? (touch wood)

my biggest problems so far have been heat foil peeling off the bellypan, a paint chip off my shock spring and paint now starting to peel off my front reservoir 2 and a half years after a stone took a chunk out of its paintwork! (oh, and the 2 days my grip kept occassionally catching the bar end on release)
for what its worth....buy an 05/06

I feel bad that they've hurt themselves, but you take a chance every time you ride that you are going to fall over. And no one made them ride that day, except themselves. If a lion tamer loses concentration of his task with the lion, guess what happens? Oops. Grab too much throttle in first on a KTM LC8 with cold tyres/cold pavement/turning/one-hand-on-the-bars - DUH! There's a cure for AIDS, there's a cure for cancer, there's a cure for obesity, but there is no cure for stupidity. This is Darwin's rule, survival of the fittest. Learn to ride, learn to be in control. Learn that there are consequences for bad choices, just as there are for good choices.
Stupidity, in the proper amount, kills. Be. Be the ball. Don't watch the ball - be the ball. These people wreck the freedom we have to take risks & enjoy/survive them. These people should stay home & play X-box & Wii, the real world has too much responsibility involved.
