Here is an excerpt from an interview that appeared in Australian Motorcycle News between KTM CEO Stefan Pierer and Alan Cathcart:

What percentage of the total market are you leading?

In the on-road market we have three engine platforms and we're offering some new models.
First of all we're working on a 400cc version of the LC4 single. We're also talking about 500 or 600cc versions, the 990 LC8 model range will be continuously upgraded to keep it fresh, and we're also looking at making 1200cc versions of the 990 models.

And now the bad news....

Is the 1200cc engine going to be the lergest KTM, or will you take it further?

No, that is the top. It's a danger because many governments, especially in the EU, want to ban us. I'm acting as president for the European Motorcycling Industry Association, and if the bureaucreats we meet had the chance they would ban all motorcycles from public roads completely.
What I expect will happen is a ban on full-power superbikes, so in maybe a couple of years the 74kW limit will come back.

Is there anything new on the actual reality of a 1200cc Superduke?
What about this?
I saw it on the intermot in Köln Germany Also has been tested by motor magazine PS in Germany against a stripped BMW ss1000.

Wow that thing is awesome!!

The headlight should sit a few inches lower, then it'd be perfect.

The more I look at this bike it appears to be a parts bin special and not what you'd expect from a factory development of either the SD or the RC8.

Nice effort, but no cigar.

Bring on a 1200 SD with slipper clutch as standard, big piston forks and a stunning rear end in the SDR style but with pillion provision....

Please.
