180/60/17 rear tyre ?

Anybody tried this higher profile ?

My dealer want to sell me one of these (pirelli supercorsa sc2 for track)

Will there be problems with space ?

I have 1 sitting in the garage waiting to go on, its a scrubbed race tyre with only 7 laps on it, we will see if it fits fairly soon !

cant see a problem? just make sure you have clearance between the tyre and fender, also it will affect the geometry of the bike, you are effectively raising the ride height
at the back which will quicken the steering, granted only by 2.5mm.

It depends on the tyre, but as Stratkat said, if nothing else it'll affect the geometry of the bike as well as the "gearing".

Personally, I wouldn't go for a 60, but if you get a good deal, by all means try it out. I mean, either you'll like it or you won't. The bike isn't going to explode just from changing tyre profiles.

Thanks. I have the Nichlos height adjuster kit so I can compensate for the changed geometry.

I know this is an older post bust how did you guys go with that 180/60 Supercorsa?

I got a good deal on a set so got em & put em on last night but the back one seeems massive, only about 3mm clearance on the inner right side of the swingarm!! Been too wet for a ride yet to see if it flexes out & rubs.

Anyone else have that issue, the wheel is quite far forward so i may have to get a longer chain to move it back to a wider part of the swingarm maybe?

Havent fitted mine yet (its been a very slow year for trackdays and im still on my original set )

I did however screw up big time earlier in the year and put a 190/55/17 on the rear by mistake which if you work it out is actually higher than a 180/60 (the 190 gets pinched on the rim giving it extra height) and i had no issues with the width of the tyre in the swingarm!

I run 16/39 gearing with the standard length chain!

I may get the 180/60 slapped on later this week so i will update this thread if it gets done!

I've done a trial fit on mine and it fits just fine but you have to have the back wheel quite a bit back.
I'll have to run a chain with about 4 more links in to ensure it doesn't foul the swing arm.

I just went out to the garage in the light of day for a good inspection & i'm gonna have to take it off, theres just not enough room.

Less than 10mm between the top of the tyre & swingarm & i only about 1mm between the right side & the inner swingarm.

Gutted, i'm a bit pissed off with myself for buying it because i didn't think a 60 series would be so much bigger than a 55 & pirellis normally seem to measure up a bit smaller than other brands size for size but this measures up right on 190mm (so much for it being a 180!)

I guess i could put on a longer chain to move back to a wider part of the swingarm but i don't really want to increase the wheelbase & buy a longer chain when the other ones still in good cond.

Bit of an update, i was able to leave the 180/60 on there but i did put the std 38t sprocket back on and that gave me plenty of clearance once the wheel was moved back to take up the chain slack.

It could maybe have worked with the 40t on there but it was a bit closer than i was comfortable with!

Anyway i've done about 250km on the Supercorsa's & they're just so much better than the Dunlops that were on there, even though its real cold here (4.5 degrees on my last ride around the lake!) the back wheel hasn't lit up once on me yet & i'm being way more agressive with the throttle, the dunlops would light up 2 or 3 times a ride hot or cold- scary!
