2010 SD custom Ideas - thoughts?

Pretty new to the ol forum as have only had her for a month, round akras should be arriving in a couple of weeks and thought I must customise her a bit.

Playing with some ideas, what do folks think?

As an I/T guy I have to say the last circuit board pic looks pretty slick to me... When you are done make up enough of them for my bike too!

That circuitry does look pretty cool. Just my 2 cents, but maybe try work the KTM logo in there somehow...& possibly carry it through to the lower chin spoiler....& then ditch those orange reflectors. Looks good though...keep us posted. Individual bikes always look cool to me.

What do you reckon? I like the idea of extending to the bottom spoiler.

something along these lines maybe, quite happy with it, might slide the ktm logo in under the 3 circuit joiners in the orange bit on the main side spolier.

Funnily enough I have been considering the idea of using circuit board pattern to make a design for my SD panels. But as all my panels are carbon I was going to make the design up in lazer cut vinyl and then use this as a mask to get the surface of the carbon vapour blasted. Then peel off the vinyl to end up with a matt/gloss effect on the carbon. I did a few samples and the result is pretty subtle but stealth-like. The curcuit board effect seems to go with the KTM functional, raw aesthetics I thought.

Do you work for an auto graphics company? (The van in the background??)

Keep us posted - you will have a lot of takers if you can produce high quality graphic panels. There are a few people who have developed the line work/illustrator files to fit SD panels.

I agree with you, the cicuit board theme seems to just fit well with the SD.

You idea sounds sweet, would be interested in seeing once done.

Been doing some of the photoshop'ing myself but mainly done by a chilled fellow south african dude. He has just done a few of the vans and trailers for some of the BSC teams a few weeks ago for the start of the season. Will chat to him and see whether he can offer any discount for folk coming from the forum. He is along the M4 corridor.

I noticed you are up in london, i am due to be in london on the 4th June baby sitting an installtion in St pauls. I just have to be available and in the sort of area and not actually doing the work. I should have the bike done by then, maybe we can hook up for a coffee, let me know.

Wow, those idea's look slick. I like the style and effect those graphics bring to the bike.

Maybe add some on the grey heat protectors of the exhaust. (altough i don't know how hot they get and how it wil hold)

The heat protectors are going along with the standard exhaust on the 21st.

I'd go for number 2, less is more.
I'd add the Superduke logo in a contrasting tone ( grey/white) over the top and extend the circuit graphic down onto the small stickers on the lower spoiler.

Just a quick word of warning before you all spend your money on the wrapping job
i had my old sd wrapped in a top quality cardon wrap but at mates rates
& wear the tank scoop is on the rad side its bubbling of i stuck a needle in it and stuck it back down but its a pain in the butt
the rest of the bike is fine

My final decsion, moved away from the bottom spolier, thought it was just to much.

Like the look better without the bottom spoiler done, I think they all look pretty good from a stand alone point of view and the rims look great.

Now why dont some of you clever bastards use your talent for good instead of evil and work out a rippin design to make a 05/06 headlight surround look tops.

As for the lower spoiler ... maybe you could try just doing the upper part, the one that's in the glossy black now, like millar said. That would be a bit more subtle.

I like it, the last one with the KTM logo is the best IMO, I'd try the glossy part of the spoiler too, wheels are cool.

Well, this is the final outcome, picture is a bit dark but you get the idea.

Very happy boy, i think i am more happy about the akras, its made such a difference to the ride, so much smoother and more controllable.

Every time i go for a ride i love it more.

Now you have finished that its time to work on a graphic for the horrid 05/06 headlight.

That does look pretty sweet.

I also think that the top part of the lower cowl being done would make it even sweeter. Make it "finger-liking good" you could say, lol
