2012 SDR Project

Sold my 08 SDR in June 2010,mainly due to the awful low speed running.Miss all the good points,though.
I've hatched a cunning plan.Buy a 2012 SDR once the 1290 is available at a heavily discounted price.£8000 say.This bike presumably has the throttle characteristics of the standard SD.
Purchase Akrapovic headers and Evo cans, Motohooligan air-box,single seat conversion,Power Commander and custom tune.
Result is the SDR without the fuel injection gremlins.Live happily ever after.

With some of the mods that you are planning plus removing the 2nd flies I'm sure you could have made your old SDR run more like a SD. The 2012 bikes do indeed have a standard SD engine in them though.

Better option would be to finally sort out the '08 SDR issues - 50k miles and still trying.

Yep - riding every day and always arrive with my face like your smiley - like skiing, not just commuting, to and from the studio every day - spend a few hours every weekend fettling, repairing, replacing, etc - you get out what you put in.

So what issues with fueling do you have? Just snatch at low speeds? a bit on and off?

Me? Where to start.........in essence, covered in my 'Intelligent ECU' thread plus I've probably experienced, usually more than once, every common issue raised here and then some, eg blown balance shaft seals, burnt out wiring loom, etc - but I'm not complaining, far from it - for me, I get back what I put in and, again, then some - will never sell my 996S or SDR for very similar reasons - love the spannering, head scratching, bike kicking, head banging, etc - if not, buy a Deauville.
