As I am inbetween now what airbox to order - Higscore new "Reso", Rottweiler or Motohooligan (DNA is silly expensive) - can anyone comment the sound differences? As I will have "deep sounding" Leo Vince carbon cans, I am interested airbox to match sonically as well as possible. Also any other comments are welcome, if you have seen these airboxes side by side in real life.
Airbox comparison question (sound).

#2I have DNA mk3 (had Motorholligan before) .....you will not hear your exhausts.....it is a lot better since I installed RC8 inlets .....either that or I have gone deaf

#3Which ever you go for the induction roar is pretty fooking loud when you spank her. As Mr 666 says it can drown out your cans so I wouldn't worry about it sound wise. Just go for which ever your funds and personal preference dictate.

#4I had a mock up in stainless steel that I made myself a bit like MH one, now I have a rotty and the rotty is louder.
Never mind when I open the throttle I can't hear much over the Mivv cans anyway...
A bit more oompf however compared to my own construction. I guess due to the fact of more air getting in from the top.

#5I've run a modified stock airbox, no airbox at all and the DNA Stage III.
There's not much to choose between the DNA and no airbox: both sound awesome and massively loud but, weirdly, do not trip the noise meter as much on track days. If cost is an issue then the Rottweilers that Viking fitted will most probably be the best bet.

#6I have the Motobox and cannot hear my FMF Apex cans (no baffles) at all under hard acceleration. I think all the boxes are going to sound roughly the same, the only variance is price and power. DNA is the most expensive and the most powerful box out there, but if you can't afford it the Motobox is a great kit and (with a set of $11 RC8 inlets) comes close to making the power a DNA box with stock inlets does.

#7I have the MH box I don't have any problems with the noise I think its got something to do with my ear plugs

#12I have the CPR Rottweiler intake with RC8 stacks and FMF Apex exhausts. The intake noise is not noticeable at lower throttle openings, but definitely roars when cranked open. The FMF's are damn loud though, so it doesn't really drown them out. I enjoy hearing the intake do its work, feel more in touch with the bike.

#17A question to all open airbox owners: my bike is making very loud and sharp sound from airbox at about 2600-3500 rpm after dyno. Doing it at very small throttle openings and actually at steady throttle cruising(!) at these 2600-3500 rpm-s. At the bigger throttle openings this louder and somehow different sound from the intake is even even more pronounced.
Funny thing, this sound appears at about 2600 and disappears from 3600 rpm, from 3600 further its just powerful roar at big throttle openings and at any cruising speeds above 3600 rpm sound is just normal. Shortly - intake is too loud and sharp sounding at 2600 - 3500rpm, no matter of throttle openings.
Is it normal or is it just my bike??

#19It feels like some kind of resonance, yes. Bit annoying as it IS loud, higher sounding and completely kills the otherwise nice sound of engine & exhaust at these revs, no matter how little is throttle. Intake feels a lot more normal-sounding again above 3500 rpm and does not kill exhausts (besides full throttle of course).

#20Is the bike been dyno-ed?
Post 21 by 41KS,
#21Yes got it today, see here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19232&start=25#p239399
Post 22 by Jermo,
#22Well, if it's tuned that's just how it sounds
Post 23 by 41KS,
#23Yes I suspect so
Anyway, back to my question: Is it just my bike or anyone else with an - *open airbox *shafts+butterlies off *RC8 stacks - experiences annoyingly loud noise from intake at 2600-3500 rpm, even at steady throttle and small throttle openings? It goes away completely after 3500, like been cut off from these rpm-s (above 3500 its a pleasurable roar, which is loud only at full throttle).

#25What airbox you got? I've got the CPR and had a high pitch rattling at similar revs and found the base plate snapped.....
