Don't just put it down to luck matey, I think you'd be surprised at just how much of your input saved your bum, I know I always am. Your brain's working so hard and fast that it becomes super critically aware, re-evaluating every sense at such an increased speed forces the brain to shut down other functions such as conscious awareness whilst relying on instinctive motor function, hence that feeling like being in shock...Well that's what I reckon anyhoos...

Glad you made it though..
Glad to hear your okay Stratkat, I know their seems that theirs no time to react but react you must, once while leading a group of 8 guys, we were all tooling up hiway 90 headed to Washburn in Missouri going east, I was in the lead doing around 85-90mph in a fairly tight sweeper as that road goes, then out of the blue the road was perfectly clean and turned to about one inch of manure slop that completely covered the road, I vowed to myself to NOT REACT! sphincter went into overdrive lifted my hands nearly off the grips and said a short prayer, "please let the friends behind me make it cos it will be the sh_ts for me to think of being 350 miles from home and I wiped them out" other than everyone except me being covered in sh_t from head to toe we all made it through, I swear I elevated off the bike just for a nanno second sos I wouldn't wipe out. After that my mantra became "all's well that ends well". They stunk like hell too!
