Thanks guys. I was worried I was down on power and maybe had an undiagnosed problem (with the bike, that is).

A true power wheelie in 3rd? Maybe if you're standing on your swingarm spools while trying even then not sure, I'd need to see a video to fully believe it... (not me, I'm hopeless).

I've seen my friend bounce (no clutch) his 05 up in 3rd down at the coast, but up here (quite high altitude) it wouldn't know. Same with my 05 blade, nothing in 2nd at home, but popped up like unwanted farts in a crowded elevator at the coast !
