So. My business partner has a lovely Triumph Street Triple, black with Arrow exhausts, Rizoma rearsets and a host of other bling. A few months ago his flat in south London is burgled and he looses everything-and I mean everything, they clean out the flat. But they also take his bike keys and so the bike is also gone from outside the house. A few days later the police ring him to say they have recovered the bike - it's been dumped at the side of the road. He gets it back but it has a lot of damage - they threw it out the back of the van!!! Even the engine sump is cracked and it's pissing oil all over the place.
He has to claim on his insurance and they send it to an approved place to get fixed up. Yesterday he turns up at work all happy and beaming. Turns out the shop has done him a lot of favours - replaced everything that was damaged and also replaced the front discs and pads, given it a service, and it's looking better than new. He's moved flats in the meantime and has a fantastic batchelor pad in Shoreditch - totally awesome place but no garage so he's had to leave the bike outside but chained up really good with an Almax chain and disc lock. I took him in an old cover today so he could at least hide it away a bit.
This morning he comes into work gutted. Turns out he gets home from work last night and some fookers have stripped it bare. Rearsets, exhausts, even the instrument console. It was only back in his possession for under ten hours!!
London is a fooked up place to have a nice bike if you don't have a garage or a big dog.
