just wondering if anyone checks their miles per galons and maybe the difference made by a akrapovic muffler and remap of the ecu....

#410 mpg difference on the first two checks!!! thats what i was afraid of....is this due to ecu mapping, parts added, or what? because altough performance if number one on my priority listm, fuel consumtion is also very important

#5i must say my mileage did vary somewhat with the stock map with both stock exhaust and the leo's, the evo4 maps runs much better and the mileage stays the same.
Get that stock map out of there, it is too rich...

#7Not sure how long you've been on here but have a look at the TUNEECU threads about this ecu reflash software, it's free. Just need a cable.
the evo4 map is a custom map which can be found under Custom KTM maps section (about half way down) look here:

#9I recently got 35mpg on a 473 mile trip I did with altitudes ranging from 500 feet up to 4500, down to sea level and back to 500 again by the end of the trip. Mine's an 07 with Akro headers and exhaust but I'm running one of the maps (not the Akro) found under the TuneECU topic. Sorry I don't have the map name handy.

#11With stock exhaust and MH airbox varied from 27 to 38 US mpg. After the Evo4 map it's been from 33.7 to 34.5.

#15I have all kinds of mods I think I get the same if I flog the shit out of it or ride normal. 120 miles on a tank I have an 08 larger one.
I agree the akra map does run rich but is ok for all around.I am looking for the right one with my mods I am going to try playing around after track day in Nov. I hope I can get the tune ecu down.All this stuff is so new to me.

#16i see alot of people here use this bike as a track bike or a once a week bike. I think people that ride their duke more regularly would notice or care more about their mpgs. Track riders dont, and neither would I, the main purpose on a track is performance but economy.

I will be riding through the Nevada desert to get to the SBK Utah round.There is a stretch that requires that I travel 170 miles between petrol stops. I have never done that many miles on the SD without a fill up. Maybe 138 miles was the most, on the ride home from Laguna Seca last year. I decided that it would be a good idea to see if it could be done. I filled up and rode 80 miles out a lonely hi-way and turned around and rode back. I can not tell you why the trip was .3 miles shorter back than forward, but the total miles back to the station was 159.7. I put 3.595 gallons of fuel in. The miles per gallon worked out to 44.422. The low fuel light did not even come on.
I rode the bike in a way that would give me the best mileage possible, without getting rediculously involved. I rode at a pace that would be close to 62 miles an hour. I should have grabbed the GPS but I was only seeing if I needed to carry extra fuel so as not to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. My bike was loaded with all the things that I will be taking on my journey. I am camping so that includes tent,sleeping bag, stove, fuel, water,clothes, alcohol,Gatorade. The bike has aftermarket slip ons and the Akrapovic mapping, which I thought would be very detrimental to the fuel mileage, but does not appear to have drastically reduced it. This brings a considerable peace of mind. I have to admit that it is not any where near the way I normally ride. I will sacrifice three hours of the trip each way for the security of making a landing at the next fuel stop. Just thought I would post this up so others would feel more comfortable pushing the MPG limit a little further.
