sorry to hear your troubles hope you get it sorted mate if i had a bike that was un reliable i would be a raging bull on the next bike i had the 07 FZ1 great bike BUT so boring.
Mel, that sucks! I had a similar experience with a 3 week old Suzuki GSX550 back in the day and the experience has haunted me down the years. (stuck in fuggin Wales for 4 hours. I mean, Wales of all places!)
The SD may be a fabbo bike, but if it don't work, it ain't worth shit...
If you have had enough of it and look to a change - if was me - I'd deffo go the B King route of the options you mention.
Ho ho, funny, laughing post BTW!

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I also want to point out that when the red "charging" light comes on it's all over.
- at which point it's already too late. It's common in vehicles that the light comes on if the alternator doesn't charge. That's NOT the case for the SuperDukes.
Therefore it's not a charging light, it's a low voltage light. Totally useless. The only thing it's useful for is to check that you don't overload the bike with too many gadgets.

Hope you get your bike fixed ASAP and that you'll find whatever bike you desire and that it'll stay reliable!
Stealer seems to think it's a reggy/rec fault.
He says he can't work on it at the minute as it's "too dirty" and he'll need to clean it to make sure.
fook a doodle doo, apologies for riding her every day and washing her every couple of weeks.
The ACF50 should mean that she SPARKLES when I clean her properly.
Reckons the cables are corroded around the battery, inferring that it's due to my optimate lead and nautilus horn that i've fitted direct to the battery.
Conversation was leading to "It's the corrosion that's stopped the regulator rectifier working.".
Needless to say I'm even LESS happy about paying for that new battery a couple of months ago now.

Looking at my finance deal, I need around 4k to clear it.
You think an '07 with 14.7k on the clock is worth that to them once I put her back to standard trim?
Really just want to get rid.

Being cheery at the minute, but can feel a "Falling Down" moment on the cards soon, a la Michael Douglas.

Could well be Akra evo's, PCIII, Ian's levers, KTM and R&G bungs, spare swingarm, subframe and hugger going cheap soon...
levers give me a shout if they are
sorry to hear bout your troubles bud, it's always a piss off when things do not work like they are supposed to.
My money would be on reg/rec, common problem on many bikes.

the fact that it is dirty is a piss-poor excuse. maybe KTM should have located it somewhere where it won't get so dirty. besides, what the hell does dirt have to do with testing it??? wipe it off, and f00king test it you lazy bastards

do not get upset with the bike though, it's not her fault. f00kups do happen, even to the best, it is about how they are delt with. Sadly there is a huge shortage of competent and honest KTM dealers, and that is what makes little f00kups into big problems....

I armlocked a dealer into showing me their trade book for my 12000 mile 05 SD the other day. Trade value is 4100 quid. I would take that for mine so yours must be worth a good bit more.

He is already saying that bikes are selling below retail and that must be reflected in trade prices. Which is dealer speak for he is going to try to knock me a few hundred off the 4100.

He is selling a 07 SD with 4k for 5680 and that is by far the cheapest I have seen.

I would guess you will easily shift yours for 5 grand and may get a few hundred more if you can bear to hang on til about March. Either way if you sell get the bike back to standard. Sell all the goodies on here. A dealer wont pay extra for them and a private buyer will try to get a cheap price with everything thrown in.

Otherwise p/ex for a Tuono if you want a twin or a CB1000 honda if you want reliability. I got offered 4500 late last year against, heavily discounted, new models of each of the above. That was unseen on mine they were that keen to do a deal.

KTM dealers just do not live in the real world.

Got a call this morning, the reggy rec connectors have totally corroded and fallen off!
He is getting a new one for me under warranty, and is trying for a new set of leads for that bit of the harness too.
Apparently all the connectors in that part of the loom are goosed!
Fair play to 'em, just wish it would be fixed soon.
I public transport!
