But really who gives a stuff if the tuono or R1 or Hayabusa or zx 14 have got more go! You could be riding a jet bike and still ride like a granny plus on the street you can only do the speed limit anyhow Well some of us do .....

#11To be honest when I had a ride on a Tuono I did like it but it seemed to me like it wasn't really like riding a brand new bike if that make sense?
It felt like something was lacking. It went like a scalded cat when I gave it a hit but to me that was all that impressed me.
I think if you want a powerful naked just strip down a Gixxer or R1 stuff paying $24000 for the Tuono.
After the ride got back on the SD and couldn't believe how much better it felt.

#12Look what Michael Neeves have to say in this group test. I would love to have all of these bikes in my garage, for a while at least. And its not the question of life and death, is'nt it? However Aprilia forum chaps seem to have lack of humour, which usually is the sign of not being completely happy (and self confident) So it's a small lesson not to give the same signal to anyone from our forum

#14It bough it was a fun read. It's good to wind em up sometimes. The Tuono is a great package but I dont know why they had to go beat it with the ugly stick. Like a lot of you. I will never ever get rid of my SuperDuke. I swear every time I go for a ride on the duke I return home with the biggest grin. No other bike I've owned has down that. Those Aprilia boys need to lighten up.

#17When I was bikeless, I waited like a nun guarding her virginity in cellblock full of sex offenders during a prison break for the arrival of the great thunder bike. I booked one of the first test rides. I put deposits down at two separate dealers. I was not to be denied this awesome bike. I jerked the BMW dealer around for a month to keep him holding a S1000RR for me - just in case. Thank God I did.
When I finally rode the V4R, I hated it. It looked great on paper, but the stats didn't translate to the real world. I remember the bike had a memory that recorded the fastest it had been ridden and it was around 100 mph. I figured, phft, I'll beat that. I never came close the thing felt so unstable at speed - almost as bad as it felt at 45 mph, or was that 40, or was it 50 - the damn thing wouldn't hold any particular speed. Oh well, to each their own. If I would have wasted $15K on one of those, I'd probably be saying the SD sucks too just to try and save face.

#31Unfortunately fellas the ugly fooking beast is so much easier to ride faster than the old girl , so it isnt just the straight line situation that it is faster.
It is comparable with my S1000 to a certain speed even.
It is however Italian engineering which is shite and always will be , give it 12 months for the electrical issues and fooking oil leaks to start ( I know more 2 people who have sold their RSV4's purely because of the reliability and lack of service they receive).
Its a big bag of shit that the current form of the SD has been left so long to update , it'll probably be the last of the big nakeds to be brought kicking and screaming into the 21st century and I cant wait.
I look every week for news on the new bike and will chop the beemer in when it appears...... Till then you'll just have to enjoy the cult status of the old un , something Aprilia will never achieve IMHO

#32Strange is that I bought the Superduke to slow down on the roads, so the quest for a faster bike does nothing for me.
Neither I want to spend another 15k euros on another bike.
Happily I'll save my orange beast and let you guys argue all the speed and new bikes (ktm or not ktm ehehe ).
