Battery Charging for the winter

New SD 1290 owner. Do you need to remove the battery before putting a trickle charger on it for the winter? Manual says to remove. On my Ducati Hypermotard it comes with a quick connect and I haven't removed the battery on this bike to charge for the winter. Thanks!

Battery Charging for the winter ? . . . . Leave the battery in the bike and continue riding that keeps it charged.

Id say he's planning on not riding for the winter...he pprobably knows that!!
