Gents, hate to admit it but financial pressure might keep me off the SD until next spring now. I'm waiting for the insurance offer but hedging my bets and working out what I could afford in the meantime.

I'm thinking of getting a supermoto, but won't be abloe to spend more than £3,000 on it. What's the best that's out there for that sort of money?

Cheers chaps.
Toby,

I dunno about SM's but you have my sympathy mate....hope u find sommat to keep you smiling till the SD graces your garage once more.

Do you have a minimum engine size requirement?
You'll probably hate a SM after the SD I had a 690 for the day when mine went in for service bloody horible couldn't wait to give it back

think about buying your's back and doing the basic to get it on the road again (gaffa tape etc it couldn't look any worse it's orange )

is the swingarm scrap or just scratched?
If you're only going to ride on the blackstuff - KTM660SMC is pretty good.

Kick start only and small tank though.

I have a '05 Duke 2 with Doma race cans and it's a blast, on my across town commute I'm near as quick on it as I am my SD.

I'm actually thinking of selling it if your interested. It's mint condition in snot green and black, 7k miles full service history... and at least it has DUKE in the title!
What sort of riding are ye planning to do on the thing. Is it gonna be a commuting hack. Are ye wanting something with road bike service patterns or are ye prepared to be spannering every few weeks. Do ye plan to use it on the odd green lane/dirt road while playing silly buggers. These will all shape your final choice.
I think I would go for the 625 or 660 SMC as the guy's have said, but it does depend on how good you are servicing as these bikes if I am correct need servicing, oil, filters, valve clearneces every 15 or 20 hours use, which if on the road can rack up quickly. The only other option is the 640, standard servicing every few 1000.
