bike in the house

When I got my Superduke, I and a friend wanted to look at it, so we rolled it in my kitchen. This is not the first time I've done this. I've had bikes in the house before. I've told some friends about this and nobody that rides thought it was weird at all. I was suprised to hear how many riders came back with other "bike in the house" stories. Now I'm wondering.

I bought my R1 up to the 18 floor after my garage was broken into.
It just fit in the lift... otherwise, who else is crazy or vain enough to do that?

When I worked away from home, in London a few years ago, my Blackbird would come through the patio window, into the lounge, where it would sit under a sheet for a couple of weeks at a time.

Garage was damp and not very secure at the time.

I loved the smell of the house whenever I got back. Sort of oil and polish. Mmmm.

ah, the memories...

back when i used to race enduros on a 620 EXC ('95-'96) the bike would come through the front door and into a corner of the living room (i was living in a very small studio back then, my fathers old office...) .

this was done every day, but the real nightmare was after sunday races/practice...

clothes were in boxes and the closets were the tool shed... with nails driven into the doors to hold up T wrenches... the kitchen cupboards had coffee, sugar, air filter oil, engine oil and brake fluid... the kitchen sink was used to wash out the air filter...

needless to say that when i left that home my father was not happy with the state i left it in

Good god. If I brought my bike into the house as a whole, life would instantly be unbearable for the rest of it's shortened duration. It's bad enough the agro if I drag in from the garage bits of bike, or particles of bike grease etc. Still, that's the point of having a proper brick garage on the house, painted floor, sound-system setup and so forth. It's ALL MINE. No need to share it, like you have to the rest of the house if you used, say, the lounge or kitchen

Well if I think back 27 years ago, when 2 strokes still ruled..

One of my mates had free reign of his parents house for a couple of years - a small 3 bed semi. We tried riding our bikes thru the house once - downstairs was ok, but never managed to get upstairs despite best efforts...

Later on I had my Yammy DT175MX in bits in my bedroom (3rd floor) for over a year. I put most of it back together before realising I wouldn't be able to get it back down again...

I'm like SDG, I've got an attached brick built garage.
This year I'm replacing it with a double size garage, double skin wall, heating, workbenches, sound system, decent lighting etc.
I'm happier tinkering in the garage than vegetating on the sofa watching TV

When I was first married (and garageless) I brought a bike into the lounge for a rebuild. My wife put up with it but wasn't happy!!
I wouldn't do it again, as women have devious and subtle ways of making you pay for such behaviour
