Black to white? Thoughts and options?

1st off. Over the last week i've been using the forum to research my new purchase. Absolute wealth of info on here with no b/s and looks like a great community with no egos, very impressed. Think i'm gonna settle in here nicely.

Not even picked up my SD (collect it a week today) but already got a big ole list of things to do, 16t, levers, tail light, tail tidy, etc.

Really like the white 09 bikes and fancy changing the colour of it. It looks like it's just a sticker kit change. Cant find anywhere that sells a white SD kit apart from that chequred one. Has anyone got any info on where i can find the kit. How hard it is to fit well. Would i be better getting a graphic company to do it? I've fitterd plenty motocross graphice kits so i assume it's like those.

This is the pic that got me thinking....

Saw this bike on the bike trader and think the white wheels go well with the kit so fancy geting them powder coated too

You could also let the panels get painted white (flock, pearl, whatever) and get the orange Superduke sticker (or another color, check ebay for this adress) on the tank panels

Another option is to vinyl heat wrap the plastic yourself and you can even sticker that. A lot cheaper (vinyl costs around 5-10 euro per square meter) and pretty fun to do yourself since the SD panel shapes are not complex.

You can even get a wood of fabric pattern
I always thought that the white SDs had white plastics rather than wrapped. But converting your black ones to white, just paint them.

BTW before you order the front sprocket, check the one already on there
I love the black and white SD's, it was the best colour scheme they ever did IMO. I've been meaning to put a thread up asking where I can get some white body work, thinking of converting mine to b&w or maybe even orange and white.

White wheels are a no no on any bike in any situation.

My wife's bike has white wheels, a bitch to keep clean! Looks good, but don't do it.
Had a good trawl through the net.

Agree now with the white wheels idea. It just about looked ok on a 15 year old GSXR back in the day. Maybe not so much on the SD.

Think i'll take my time with it all and just update it in the "what did you do to your sd today" thread.

I've bought this bike as a pure hoologan tool. Purely for track work, summer scratching, stunting etc. So 1st thing is to get it stripped, checked and serviced up to spec and take it from there. Do the crash bungs, sprocket (if it needs it), and maybe a few subtle bits like change the colour of the side graphics
You have 2 options.

Get them painted white and some Superduke decals layed in before being laquered.

Get some decals as you suggested:

You could get the decals done plain white and then just have the logo on them.

Get the wheels powder coated white can be a PITA, the rubber bushes are an arse to get out, some have cut them out some have left them in when get PC.
My thoughts? It'll show the dirt!

Factory white Superdukes have painted and decaled plastics with a clearcoat. Here are the part numbers you'd need:

6110800300020A left headlight mask $49.99USD
6110800400020A right headlight mask $49.99USD
6100804100020A left side seat panel $89.99USD
6100804200020A right side seat panel $89.99USD
6110805000020A left side tank spoiler, $230.99USD
6110805100020A right side tank spoiler, $233.99USD
6100802014420A chin spoiler, complete, $171.99USD

The prices above are from KTM Cyclehutt in the US, but the part numbers should be useful everywhere. It's not cheap to swap with factory painted KTM parts. I did it on my SDR because I wanted white, but KTM USA wouldn't sell the parts to me, so I bought from KTM Versand in Germany. KTM Versand sold the white SDR parts as a complete kit, but I can't find it on their site now. They might have the Superduke parts as a more affordable kit than buying separately.

Decals to do the conversion are also available if you want to do the paint yourself. KTM part numbers are below:

61108098300 TANK STICKER SPOILER 08 $47.99USD
61008096500 STICKER FRONT CHIN SPOILER WHITE 08 $47.99USD

The white 990 numbers were shown, but no part number or price listed.

If you can paint yourself, you could save a lot. Good luck with the switch!
Excellent post man. Thanks for taking the time.
05-06 panels ARE different to 07 >.

Well it will be much quicker in white than black or orange for sure.
