brake rotor bolts?

g,day all,
my wheels are off at the powder coaters, when i get them back and assemble them i want to use new bolts to mount the brake rotors, now, here in australia the dealers can be a bit pricey, so i reckon i can get titanium for not much more than the genuine KTM stuff. has anyone tried them? i think i read that the speedo sensor uses the bolts to trigger the speed? 1 or all 6?

On the left hand side of the bike the sensor uses all 6 bolts so titanium would stop it working.
Personally I would not change bolts on brake disks to titanium.

I agree with ktmguy. Replace them with the OE ones if it's needed.

pro-bolts have sets for the SD plus other cool stuff like orange aluminium engine bolts

not to mention, you have to go http://www.tastynuts.com to get them! I think I would get in trouble if a package of tasty nuts (no pun intended) showed up at my door

Yeah, i would never stray from OEMs on this one. Speedo failure is the least of your worries. A bolt designed for correct use and torque is far more important than bling on a brake disc.....much as i love Ti bolts. Shame.

Brakes are one of the few parts of a bike that makes me nervous to fiddle with. I frequently refer to the manual and torque every bolt to the proper setting when I have them off or apart. I don't think I'd stray from the manufacturer's choice of material and hardness. However, I do use anti seize on the button bolts on floating discs. I apply a small amount and torque to the proper tightness. In 10 years I have never had one loosen, and it makes taking them off a breeze when necessary. Anyone who has had to heat those bastards with a torch and hammer at them with an impact wrench knows what I am talking about.
