Bye Bye Buell Motorcycles

Amagin an XB12 , with the rotax aprilia rsv 1000 engin in it , we woodent be rideing SD's to day ,

this is what he whonted to do aparentley but aprilia had the licence on them and sed no ,

So E-Buel gos to rotax and has his oun engin made ,way to go ,

but some one must have had picks of him fooking an animal or something to have black maild him into yousing the most faaaaaaaaaakin ugley dezinde bike ever to put that engin in ,

it is a shame he had the bike and then the engin WTFH

and apparently Harley D put, or is putting MV on the block.

ahhh what a shame..always sad to see a manufacturer close up..but he should have employed an Italian to design them. the geometry of the XB series were like a 250GP bike and the handling reflected that. But people decided to make it look like shit with see through plastic and exhausts that after 2 weeks in the rain rotted..and expensive servicing...not quite sure i understand some manufacturers mentalities sometimes..such as why they had to design the 1125 so flaming ugly..people dont want ugly bikes they want good looks married to performance, practicality and reliability.

Some of the earlier tube frame Buells will probably have some collector interest (after awhile) but I think those canteen frame bikes will always be a footnote to real motorcycle design...and poor old Buell, probably has a contract that will keep him stuck working for harely-davsion trying to make those tractors handle somehow.

I'm going to say hello to buell if I can find one at this price.

Maybe I'm in a minority of 1 but I actually like the look of the 1125CR.

OK so the intakes are HUGE but I bet they come off easily enough..

I feel for the guy. I had a business that had a serious contract for equipment used by an industry leader, but could not raise money for it in the hayday of the internet startups that sucked up (and lost) all of the investor money out there. I had much passion, blood, sweat, tears into this product over several years, and it was accepted as a great product. But got caught in a cash flow deal. It hurts. The company I have now I started 25 years ago and it too is in an industry of passion. It would hurt big time if I lost it now.

I hope he is not tied up too many years with his contract. Now not even having his own brand, and having to work on heavy machinery that could never think of true competitive performance cannot inspire a guy such as him.

One thing the company never truly had was a sense of style. It was said above that we don't want to buy ugly bikes and that's true. Look at the originals.....function but no inspiring styling cues. Now look at the latest.....same problem. But he does not need my analysis, I just hope things look up for him. Watch the video and you can see what he's feeling. With his name he could do a boutique busines building a few bikes at a time and probably do very well.

I had a Beull for around 4 months, 3 of which I was trying to flog it. Still, I made £1k on the buy/sell.

i liked the idea of the buell's. fair play to him for at least TRYING to drag the american motorcycle industry forward a century or so.
if they had dropped the stupid belt drive, fitted a better gearbox and upped the cc's to make some reasonable power they might have succeeded with the lightning and city x. maybe even have "normal" brakes on the front too.
the watercooled ones were EXTREMELY ugly though, no matter how good or not they were in any other dept. whoever styled those shouldn't ever be given another job in motorcycling again.

I thought the Rotax based bikes were the most ugly machines ever built but I'm still sad to see them fold. Trying to sell through Harley Dealers can't have helped.
