Don't think i posted this before.
tech line coatings , i've done some homework on this and seems doable . i'm putting a new piston in my yamaha restoration below and plan to spray the piston top / Skirt / and cylinder wall.

http://www.techlinecoatings.com/hi-perf ... videos.htm Quite a few videos here on all their different products - i found the vid with the automobile engine interesting - and the fact that the Anodizing process doesn't add any dimensions to parts used on . anyway - this is sure to cause some stir amongst ya all.

Here's the current state of affairs on my little yammey restoration .

As i mentioned previously , noticed KTM uses coatings inside their engines. At least under valve covers and inside of head valley etc ....

I'm currently building up a 73 yamaha enduro and going to try this stuff out - thermal barrier for intake and exhaust ports - piston crown - combustion chamber - intake runners - valves ...

I'll be spraying the top of piston with it and combustion chamber and intake port inner. Will NOT coat the polished/massaged exhaust port so i can make a comparison of carbon build up or no build up between the two surfaces.

we'll see how this turns out.

The Yamaha's running a Webco head ( high compression ) so pre-detonation is possible , the coating is supposto help prevent the hot spots on a piston top reducing the pre-detonation possibility .......... same with the combustion chamber.

Cheers

I saw the bike in the background of a couple of cam lobes and was most curious as to what I was seeing.
I envy your bike mechanicing prowess. I'm scared of most threaded pieces that are burried under other threaded pieces. Maalox is the last coating i've reached for.
