Crash bungs...top? lower? or both??

#6Of course it depends how you crash!
One thing to check though, if you're fully comp' insured they'll pay for all the bits BUT not all of the accessories, there's usually a limit to the payout on accessories.
If you're hoping the crash bungs mean the damage from a crash is so small you can cover it not the insurance company, and not lose no claims bonus, then as I said at the beggining, it depends how you crash!

#7If you crash heavy then no amount of bungs is gonna save your pride and joy, but a low speed low side or comedy disc lock debarcle could be a lot worse without them. Pity you can't choose how to crash.

#8Yes only good for a slow speed get off i agree and if im involved in a high speed tumble the bikes condition and the insurance quibble afterwards would be the last thing on my mind...... walking afterwards more prevelant .... if you can snap a couple of pics that would be sound DrF,might give a better idea how it looks than the pics ive seen so far....and might make my mind up for me

#14Rigga first thing I did was R&G the bike. I went for the upper only as well as the front fork protectors. For the rear I went for R&G cotton bobbins rather as they big and still can use the paddock stand. However now on an abba stand so makes no difference now

#16Rigga, i have the R+G swing arm bobbins, front fork protectors, bar ends and engine/frame uppers.
I have also tested them in a low speed high side, all the crash proctectors on the side that went down took damage including the clutch cover, riders and pillion foot pegs and hangers, exhaust heat shield and brake lever.
I reckon if i'd had the engine lowers fitted, i may have saved the damage to the clutch cover and riders foot peg and hanger.
But what ever happens, if it goes over at low speed, the pillion peg/hanger and exhaust heat shield will take damage, if you have removed the pillion pegs and fitted aftermarket exhausts, i think i can safely say you will trash the exhaust.
The R+G protectors saved the r/h front fork, swing arm, side panel, radiator and oil tank from some serious grazing damage from sliding along the road.
I've now replaced the damaged protectors and fitted the engine lowers aswell. And i consider the couple hundred quid i've spent a good investment against the cost of repairing or replacing forks, swing arm, radiator, oil tank or body panels in the event of a not so serious crash.
I do agree, they do look fugly but they will save you money and like i do with all my bikes, i remove them when i sell the bike and sell them off seperately, you'll always sell crash protectors.
