Sorry, yes it is an 07. I paid retail for it and didn't mind. The dealership where I bought it has treated me very well over the years and I understand they need to earn a living.

The last bike I bought there was a different story. They did hook me up on the Z1000 and they gave me a fair price on it's trade in.
cool. enjoy your ride
Hi Bald

Well done on being 1st hope you have a blast. How does the SD compair to the Z1000. I was looking at one before going for the SD, never got a test ride though.

Cheers

Pete
I have run inline fours on the street for the past 19 years and it is all I have ever known. I have ridden twins occasionally (BMW R1100S, Honda VTR1000, etc) but never spent alot of time on one. I can tell I have some things to learn but I am catching on quickly.

My Z1000 was a 2006 model and I liked everything about it except the inferior suspension. That is why I sold it. If you are a casual rider the bike is great but I rode it pretty hard and I could never get the chassis to do what I wanted. The motor was great and liked to rev, the brakes are good and overall the bike was fairly comfortable for it's type. The bike likes to wheelie as well so be carefull the first time you wack it.

The Z1000 is totally new for 2007 with alot more power and better suspension components. I saw one a few weeks ago and in my opinion the new one is butt ugly.

I have ridden my SD for only approx. 100 miles so I can't really make a good comparison between the two bikes yet. It was 19 degrees f. when I picked it up so I wasn't able to really have too much fun.
This thread is useless without pics! Let's see your new bike!
I Knew it...

I called the dealership soon as I saw your post....I spoke with Shawn ...and told me to talk to Greg regarding any technical questions...

Anyway ...I knew the US would get the MUCH BETTER looking KTM with black seat/black tank and orange shrouds....too too cool

CONGRATS Bro...I was on the phone with salesguy (Shawn) while you were finalinzing the deal !!!

I put on deposit on the same bike ...BUT one big question..I'm thinking the bike will go down drastically in price months later...like the 950 SM...The 950 went for about the same ..now you can get one for less than 11k out the door...

Anyway...mine should be in next month ...stay in touch ..let me know how it all goes....

Mass
OH ......

Now bring on the pics !!!
cool, I am waiting on the first batch to hit Santa Cruz, CA

It seems most dealerships are getting 2.

What color is the one that is still at the dealership?

Very nice. The orange is looking sharp. Still waiting for my slower all black here in Toronto Canada. The roads are too dangerous right now anyway
...and well worth the wait. I got the orange, same as Bald Kirk. No pictures to post - but it's just like his, only newer. (Curiously, mine arrived without an owner's manual as well.)

I only put about 15 miles on it getting home from the shop, but I am already in love. Definitely more engine vibe than the SV, but waaay more scoot. To tell the truth, with the flat bar the riding position reminds me more of my old DT250 enduro than the SV. I don't think that I've gotten over 6K rpm yet; I can only imagine. I suspect that it will start reminding me of my old RDs then , just without the glorious 2stroke aroma .

Tomorrow's weather looks unseasonably nice, and I have Monday off as well. I'm going to hook up my electric gear, and hit some of the flatter twisties more on the plains than in the hills. (I suspect that the hills will have enough sand and ice to convince a prudent rider to think twice before venturing forth. I'll let you know how it turns out.)

- Chris
Enjoy Chris... Congrats
