#6well wrap yer head around this,,, the little track toy is in the back of my truck, it is the kaw versys 650cc looks like a motard commuter. off to the track.
surprisingly? it fits in my truck and able to close the tail gate, the SD could not close it, in thare>,,,, the SD is longer by an inch,, strange to me indeed.
looks and sounds like a chopper>>>> popper.

#7Why bother??? The SD is the best-handling "naked sports" out there and the forthcoming Venom will have the 1190 engine..... Single-siders are fine if the bikes designed for one but are purely for looks and the SD looks fine to me.

#8Absolutely, any bike that has had them fitted has only been for looks (though you could argue the RC45 and 916 had them fitted for racing homologation purposes) but every bike that has had them fitted looks fantastic, so fitting one to an SD would only be for looks, but it would look great Oh, and they make cleaning a damn sight easier too

#9Yep-absolutely right .Not forgetting the RC30. I think this and the RC45 had single-siders to facilitate wheel changes in endurance racing though its interesting to note the Japs don`t see that as an advantage these days.
Ducati must fit them for marketing/looks reasons only as it`s surely easier to design a longer and lighter double sider to do the same job. It seems a single-sider will handle 200bhp or so in WSB but it must be heavier than a double-sider or wouldn`t Ducati use one in Moto GP? Every other factory would use them if they had functional advantages but no-one else does. Still it`s great to have good looks and as you say cleaning/wheel removal etc is so much easier with a single sider.
