Ducati Streetfighter

Popped into Moto Rapido in Winchester yesterday; a very good dealership and tried out the Streetfighter.

My conclusions:

1. You can't get your right foot on the peg if you have size 12's like me due to the poorly designed exhaust routing & heat shield (a la old Monster).

2. It's just not scary enough - 150 bhp ?? doesn't feel like it. I need to be intimidated by a bike like this.

3. Riding position is not as good as the Superduke in terms of comfort but it is easier to sustain high speed.

4. Engine - fuelling in particular is fantastic.

5. Ducati traction control - gimmick.

6. Suspension (Ohlins) set-up for the road nowhere near as good as SD.

7. Brakes are awesome.

8. Build quality - feels a bit fragile compared to KTM.

I could go on but my conclusion is that I will certainly stick with my SD for the time being. £14K for a naked is crazy esp. for one that is not as good as the SD.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has ridden one and what they think.

glad I have read this thread . Just seen a streetfighter today and was tempted to trade the SD but mine plus £9k and you recon it feels slow I dont think so................ cheers for saving me a fortune !!

Weather permitting I'm gonna have a go on one of these on wednesday. I really like the look of them, but even if I love it, the chances of me scraping up the readies is slightly less than nil at the moment. Anyway. I'll be interested to see how it squares up to the SD.

So, I've not ridden one yet. But then I'm not interested too either. I rode the Hypermotard before sinking the hard earned into the SuperDuke and every time I turn the key I know I did the right thing. The fuelling on the SD is easily fixed, the suspension is easily tweaked to suit; I need not go on!!
Can't see what all the fuss is about with the Ducati. The Tuano from Aprilia was a laugh, I'll admit, and a novelty at the time but if you really want to pose as much as the StreetFighter wants you too, then go and buy a proper bike in the first place.
Plus IMHO it's as ugly as fcuk, AND for that sort of money geez! I sometimes dream of being able to afford [to run] a Ducati some day...but by god it isn't one of those!

they are a nice looking street bike for shaw , frunt end putsme off it a bit !,

but what niggles me on theys bikes ,is the quschernabule Ohlins set ups , a desent Ohlins setup iff you bort it to fit to the bike ,this is eney bike I'am talking abowt ,wood cost you near on half the price of the bike ,iff bort sepratley off the shelf ,

wether WP is the same I dont think so as it is customised by KTM ,taylerd to each spusiffick KTM , but on the Ducati it looks to me its the same set up on all there bikes , and its all the same set up that is on aprilias ,off wich I knoe guys who have Bind the ohlins kit that came on there factrys and up graded to more expencive ohlins kit that werks and is not there for show ,

Funny as well as FB made a coment on one of there right ups saying the Base model was a beter bike and not werth the ££££££££ extra for the showey Ohlins ,of wich they had problems setting up for the track .

this I wood be pist off abowt iff I had piad the extra spasifickley for that reason , and theres nuthting rong with Showa set ups as well ,and Iknoe a cuppel of racers that prefer to yous them .

"OCC is a great show, and they make some amazing custom cruisers. They do have talent and have done wonders for the industry.

However, people do not buy Ducati's because they want an Americanized bike. We buy Ducs because we want that Italian flair... dare I say Eurotrash image? That's what makes them special, how they look, feel and ride. It's a lot like the "Harley" mindset, except that Ducati has the quality, class and performance to actually back it up. Apart from some old dirt track records, Harley hasn't jack. They are the "Hard Rock Cafe" of the motorcycle world...

If America wanted an American custom streetfighter, we already have the Buell platform to work on. I have no problem with them joining forces with Ducati and driving the brand name home and increasing sales and market share, that's good for all of us.

But don't screw it up by bolting on cruiser-like parts and fagging it up with awful paint jobs.

Use the OCC name to spread the Ducati brand, make some trick billet parts for it, but don't change the very essence of what a Ducati is, because it negates the core reasons why we would buy a Ducati in the first place."

Rode the Streetfighter S on Saturday.
The riding position doesn't suit a gangly 6ft 3ins such as me.Especially one with knackered knees.
Engine is terrific.Much smoother and revvy than my SDR.
Ohlins forks and shock offer armchair luxury ride compared to the track spec SDR.
What I need is the SDR with Streetfighter engine and suspension.
In fact that's what I'm trying to achieve with the help of Akros,PCIII,custom map and softer springs front and rear.

Hey, Sprayvid, how did you mildly tweak your suspension for the rough roads? One reason for my getting the SD is to get a bit more comfort on the back roads. I was thinking of the SM for that reason, more travel, but decided to get the SD and soften the suspension if I could. What did you find works, and how much do you weigh?

Sharing parts is one thing but having the manufacturers logo stamped into it is another thing entirely.

That just showes that the Duc's arn't "pure italian" anymore, and TJ's right , that must piss off the "purist" lol
