Dyno time, SD versus Hypermotard

Put the dyno charts from my strock SD and the Hypermotard I had together.

SD was stock, Hyper had a Zard Top Gun slipon, modded airbox and Ducati Performance ECU.

You can see that the Hyper makes way more power down low, it is much easier to wheelie and comes off the line harder. At some points, it is 10hp ahead of the Super Duke.

It isn't until 6500 rpm or so that the Super Duke catches up, but from then on, it just walks away from the Hyper with ease. On the track where it is easy to keep the revs at 6k or greater, the Hyper would get ripped. Around town, hard to say, the Hyper might be faster stop light to stop light.

Handling wise, the Super Duke seems more like a sportbike and is easier to throw into turns and feels more planted once there.

Thanks to Huey at Marietta Motorsports for the dyno time.

After I get my Leo Vince exhaust at the end of the week hopefully, I will have the bike rerun and see what gains there are, if any. At some point a PCIII and aftermarket airbox will be added with a custom map, and I do expect to get 5-8hp over stock, with more torque and better throttle response.

I put about 70 miles on a Hyper and it is easy to wheelie! I really don't think it will ever leave a SD anywhere because where it is more powerful you can't nail it because any bike is only as fast as you can keep the front wheel on the ground. The Hyper has a really light front end and won't leave the line well, I tried and it was nothing but blue skies. A really fun bike but the lack of top end was the reason I picked the SDR. Seeing these Dyno's shows just what I thought.

I'll have to pay Marietta Motor sports a visit. It's right up the street.
