Not for me(), but for the other gear heads.

Has anyone done any internal engine mods such as:

compression increase
cylinder head porting
cylinder head valve work/size
custom piston/rod combo's
camshafts (l)

I hear alot of talk of the need for more HP, and being around an engine dyno (V8's) in the past, i would think there is 20? HP out there somewhere?

Always Dreamin' !

Tim

I may be able to get them to take my bike for some R&D over the winter. But it may come down to numbers....They may not be willing to make the pistons etc...for one bike, since there may not be that big of a market for S.D pistons. i'll talk to my brother today and see what he can do.
Hi all when i got my bike it was a ex battle bike PAT McDOUGALL'S spare bike so i was told and after a few phone call i had it confirmed it had 250 miles on the clock (but do they race with the clocks on )
any way this his what it said it had done to it
The engine has been tuned by famous engine tuner Bob Farnham it has been blue printed and gas flowed and balanced, a power commander fitted and free flow air filter, Akropovic exhaust system then set up on the dyno for optimum performance

but i must say i took a brand new one out on a test ride & bought the ex battle bike
& love it just need to wait until the spring now so i can play out
Hey All, Raising compression would not be my chosen technique to squeeze more hp, such as you would have to raise octane Ron to accommodate this,

am I wrong here to assume this philosophy?
Bet you could sell 100 sets of pistons here alone. Correct on octane increase for compression increase if you want to avoid detonation. If I remember my VW engine building #s correctly, we would allow 7.2/1 for the highest octane rating available in California, which was then 92 and now is 91. I run 110 in my bike so I would welcome higher compression rate. The cheap and easy way is thinner gaskets or cylinder shims but keeping those the same and installing pistons w/ a different shape would be awesome!
I'm sure there are takers for the piston rod setup. Correct about the Octane- compression, it is possible to squeeze a bit more compression without higher octane if you can controle the ignition advance. However the gain in horsepower would not be that great.
What about the thin head gaskets KTM sells for the RC8 R Race kit? Don't know much about the RC8 maybe the bore is the same, anybody knows if they fit the SD?
