I cant go any where on this bike with out someone wanting to try to catch up to me at a stop light. I see cars , trucks, some sport bikes but mostly Harley's.I love giving people hell light to light on the Super Duke!. If they are looking for a short drag race, im down. So far ive supprised lots of 600 sport bike and waxed hundreds of harleys. I cant help myself, the Bike makes me do it!!

I've raced all the local milk floats from the lights.
I know how you feel.I have a fast harley but I just putt when I ride it when I'm on the duke I have to go fast no matter what.It started when I got that aprilia dorsoduro 750 That was a great bike.It made want to get a duke.I am so glad I did the bike has all the stuff I wanted to put on my DD.The power from duke is amazing what a gas. Can't wait till I get all my goodies put on.
I used to live in South Mlps by 35w and 46th. I go to first thursday at Dalanos all the time . I m there with 2 buddies that have FZ1's. They also love the SD . I 'm sad to say the Fz1 Is a Dam fast bike. I cant seem to hold them off to long. oh well I own them in the twisties!!!! . I've seen one white SD and a SDR. Last 1st thurs some on had a sweet 2011 RC8r white and ornge !!! way Bad ass

thats the point , you can make anything really quick but standard harleys are about as fast as a steamroller !!!
and as for their cornering ability !! oh they have none
I can apriciate all forms of biking (and acknowlege all bikers)
each to his own I say

That said..............I was riding my mates Harley and a car in the distance was starting to pull out of a side road (nothing to drastic) touched the brakes nothing happened (or not what I was expecting anyway) what should have been 'One of those moments' that happens nearly every day.....very nearly turned nasty ....only just stopped

The absolute worst brakes I have ever used
Is a Buell a Harley? This old 98 LIghtning (with race kit) goes good, lots of torque, corners well, has good brakes...and the motor is fun...boom, boom, boom, ....makes my SD feel like a high revving in-line 4 when I get on it after a ride on the Buell.

Overall, its quite a bit smaller than an SD...and its easy to work on...everything is easily accessible....for instance the plugs can be changed with a pair of pliers in about 5 minutes...

But then, the guys I've met who really don't like Buells aren't Sportbike guys...they are Harley and Metric Cruiser guys..So maybe its not a "Harley" Harley.

I dont have any issue with the bike, hell I enjoy riding anything. The majority of people that ride Harleys here buy into the image and not the bike. Im amazed how many people I know who have purchased a Harley as a first bike in their 40's. Average spend on after market gear is $6000 on top of the purchase price, thats a hell of a lot of image. Attitude Harley riders adopt give me the shits, they will never wave or give you a nod, sit at the lights on a 250 and they will always floor it, sit at the lights on the SD and they take off slowly in a "Im cool dont need to go fast fashion". wankers.
Your right, some of the first time guys are assholes.I grew up riding everything jap, husky ,cz when I was really into sportbikes I did not like Harleys. When I found out my back was fooked. I started riding Hd's I have a nice one.I really do like it.After I had my surgery I found out about the aprilia DD .That got me thinking I could ride the DD with no pain.they are pretty confy to ride. Now that I I have my duke I am so pumped.I can ride a bad ass bike with no pain. You have no idea how cool that is for me I missed it so much. They HD was cool but it was not the riding I really wanted to do. Now I am thinking of checking out track days at willow springs. It's been 20 years since I have been on a track.I took superbike school had my license to race.I loved the track miss it so bad would love to get the Duke out there.Back in the day I could do 1:48 At 55 I'm sure I have lost a little speed.I want to try If i can I will do it.
