I wish these were less expensive, the FMF may get the nod.

Remus Hexacone - these "fit" the SD best of all (IMHO).

Dunno if I'd go the Ti route or full carbon......

I got a set a few weeks ago, they have baffles that can go in between the y-pipe and muffler, but I didn't use them. They are really loud and throaty, even at idle. Drive through a parking garage and you will set off every car alarm in the place. I like the sound and can really feel the power diference at wide open throtttle, it pulls much harder in the 7500 -9400 rev range (stock map so far). Installation was a breeze, 1 man job. Here are some pics and vids:

I really like the fact that you have no crummy stickers on the cans. Very nice.

Thanks for all the info on the FMFs. I'm considering them this winter.

Just to clarify, do the large stickers shown here come off or not?

Trust me, the Leos rock! I sold my Akras to buy a set. and yeah Freestyler, they DO sound better than the Akra evos....everyone I've spoken to so far agrees.

Check the vid I made. The Akras were well run in but the Leos were brand new, they have been run in now and sound a little deeper/fruitier. I much prefer them.

Build quallity isnt up to Akra levels but it aint far off.

The carbon feels like very thick, layered quality carbon...no flimsy in any way at all.

Plus I think they look shit hot!

Just fit the Graves, wow!

Nice deep rumble, I love the tone! It feels like my eardrums are getting compressed when I stand beside or behind the bike.

Probably been done to death, same as most bike forums, but my question has an extra bit added to it.

Just got the SD yesterday, I like loud pipes, mine are standard, (and now comes the inevitability part), which cans should I go with? Looked on ebay, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of choice (GPR, Mivv, Delkavic). I know Acrapovic do them, but they are way out of my price range. I've seen Yoshimura cans, but their site only goes up to MY09 (mine is a 10), but I thought the cans fit the 990 SD's throughout the range. Am I wrong? Did things change after 09?

Also saw plenty of US posts with Leo Vince cans fitted but their site doesn't list them for the SD, so how do we in the UK go down that route, or is it not worth the hassle?

My pal bought a V-Strom yesterday with GPR's fitted and I loved the sound of that, but would like views from SD owners on what they have.

So, all recommendations welcome (and here's the extra bit), can you also give me a potential supplier please (as in the Leo Vince problem in the UK)?

Thanks,

Andy

What is the best combo for an exhaust on the more quiet side for the 1290?
I have not been able to see comments on the site and youtube videos are not convincing me yet any one is quieter than another.
I had a 990 with Leo Vince and loved them, just enough sound, but not over the top. Leaning towards the Arrow mid and Arrow pipe now.

On the quiet side?

Standard or any slip on that retains the cat. If you remove the stock slip on and fire her up you will notice little change in loudness.
