Fast Bike magazine shoot out (May 2014) KTM vs Aprilia

Ok, just read the most recent shoot out between the KTM SD and Aprilia Tuono. I am confused..... Fast Bike gave the win to the Tuono. Ok, I get it the Aprilia is a very good naked. Interesting was the Dyno run. The KTM pulled 150 and the Tuono pulled 156!! How did that happen? Everything that I have read puts the KTM at the top for HPW. KTM claims 180 hpw. How did it lose 30 ponies on a dyno? I understand that every bike loses hpw from the crank to the pavement, but 30!!! My limited knowledge has taught me that from crank to rear tyre bikes can lose 11-13 percent in hpw. That is far fewer than 30 ponies as documented in the FAST BIKE article.

Can someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Gotta remember that big Vtwins take a while to free up. .. 990 sd's can gain 3-6 hp from New to 30000km.

The graphs seem to be power at the engine figures.

This one probably tells power delivery in real life. If understood correct SDR is much stronger first three gears and quite equal 4th gear. After that S1000R is stronger cos gearing is shorter. SDRs' theoretical top speed is 290. So gearing is tall. S1000R reach max rpm @258 kph.

Graphs are little out of topic nothing Tuono, sorry. But quite amazing for SDR. I have ridden 2013 Tuono. Really fast over 7000 rpm. But low and mid range is weak. Nice electronics if you like gadgets. For 2014 they have change something, more flywheel weight, shorter gearing, more comfortable suspension. But after all i chose SDR. SDR is even less expensive in Finland SDR 21300€ and Tuono 22190€. Im orange fan after my 10 years off roading with KTM.
