Did anyone see the race from Mid-Ohio? Damn that KTM looked good (definitely best looking bike on the track!) and a 7th first time out...not too shabby!
Yup, had to rub that into my Buell forum's face.
Anyone on here going to N.J.to see em go it is the best lookin thing out there fer sur,,,,,,,,,,,
It's a miserable trip. But I may still go. Perhaps only for Saturday
Was nice to see the Speed channel actually give some good commentary about it. Apparently he rode it out of the crate that weekend. Anyone think that's BS? Also carrying a 20lbs. ballast.
It looked a bit down on power on the back straight, but Filmore was killer on the brakes going in.

And I would agree, best looking bike out there.
he might have rode a factory prepped bike out of the crate. I doubt it was a showroom stock bike.
first time I want an AMA race LIVE this year!!!

KTM made me proud! I was hoping it'll beat the BMW but it was close! buell? LOL.

race 2 is about to be broadcasted.
I think you'll find that it was not a showroom stock RC8R but in fact a track preped factory track bike. KTM will be selling them to the general public for $19,999.

Motorcyclist mag just did a write up on it. Straight out of the box compared to the standard 2011 RC8R at Chuckwalla, the track bike was 2 seconds a lap faster. Granted they come from KTM with Dunlop race slicks as standard.

The major differences are upgraded suspension, wheels, bodywork (without headlight opening), levers, rearsets, thinner head gaskets, cams (I believe) and exhaust. All engine mods equal and additional 10hp at the wheel over the stock 2011 RC8R. Oh, it's 47lbs lighter than the stock bike as well (mostly due to the pipe and lack of street equipment...presumably).

The RC8R track version is the 2010 RC8R motor with the Club Racing kit already installed. I would imagine that Fillmore's ride had the Superbike kit instead.
Good show for first outing. Without question, not only the best looking bike, but the only modern-appearing one in AMA.

RC8R Race Spec - been one rolling (demo) at Fastrack Riders (sponsored by KTM) track dates. Had the privilege of not only drooling on the first one in the US, but also getting my fairings blown off by a certain shall-go-unnamed racer on the thing. Local dealer got two of them - sold immediately. For the money, tough to beat the price for an out-of-the-box race bike.

Ridden the 2010 RC8R at the track, and it sounds like there were substantial improvements made in 2011:

Looking forward to the KTM demo truck turning up later this year! When its time to replace the current track weapon, gonna be a tough decision

20K for nearly a factory superbike? That's a steal.
I have been around long e-nuf to see the woods turn ORANGE, now it's time to see the road race tracks turn ORANGE. GO KTM.
