First gear grind

Hey guys, Im still in the learning process here.

Do your bikes grind 1st gear when at a stop going from neutral? Mine does and I was wondering if it was the hydraulic clutch not disengaging all the way. This is my first hydro clutch so Im not sure what to look for. On my MX bikes symptoms like this are common to poor clutch adjustment or bent shift forks. Ive done nothing but treat this bike gingerly for the break in period so Im really doubting/hoping its not the forks.

Thanks Ryan
mine still crunches and it has 16,000 miiles on it. you cant gently put it in gear or it will grind, just be firm and commit to your change and you should be ok.
Not really - but be firm.

Also, use decent oil. Putoline 10w 60 Fully synth gives a nicer feel when going thru the gears than thinner stuff.

When I go to 1st from neutral at a standstill (as when I start the bike) there is a huge clunck when the gear engages.

All bikes do this to some degree, but this is ridiculous...

Does anyone start their bike with 1st gear engaged already?
