Had the Superduke for three weeks, with the combination of long work hours and crap weather, I haven't had the chance to really open the bike up. Today was the day, wife at her mothers and only the possibililty of light sleet.
Headed up the A59 to Gisburn, the A682 to Long Preston then the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale. God it was cold, could hardly find my knob when I stopped for a pee a Devil's Bridge. Only three bikes on the car park, VFR 800, Yamaha FJ something or other and a Fazer. All I discovered so far was that the D208RR is an entertaining winter tyre.
I decided to cut my losses and ride the A683 and hop on the M6 and then home. Then, west of Caton it happened, passed a Caterham/Westfield thingy going in the opposite direction, did a U-turn in a gateway and chased him. Caught him when he was baulked by traffic in a village, but he was game. In another mile, he set up a reasonable overtake on the line of traffic, I followed and as he pulled back in, my superior view of the oncoming traffic allowed me to hang out and complete my overtake of the traffic and him. My Akras cracking and popping like an outtake from 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'. I was on a roll, a quarter of a mile further on, two Repsol Fireblades and Gixer Something or Other. Timid in the Twisties, all the gear with no idea, these three bikes were dispatched in less than a mile.
Due to the cold I returned to the Bridge, when I returned from the loo a small crowd of bikers had now arrived. I decided to return home in the now heavy rain.
