Fitting exhausts from other bikes

well if an exhaust is just an exhaust... why wouldn't you just fit a Superduke one ?

Unless you were going the whole hog and going for a 2-1 system mounted on the side for example, i can't see why you wouldn't just make life simple and fit a KTM version ?

Just get some Yoshi carbons..and yes +1 on Mr Z cans.
I'm running a new set of carbon termis for a Ducati 916/996/998 that I got off eBay $300 or so landed from Germany. .. spent another $250 getting a y piece done (the ball socket joint was the expensive part as it is hard to get a good seal).

a set of yoshis wouldn't cost much more these days but when I did mine there weren't any pipes under $1000.. that and what I have are pretty unique and the sound is beautiful... and nothing other than akras are as classy on a euro bike.

that being said the fmf's are spot on too
Yoshi carbons can be had for under $800 landed. Our dollar is looking good right now too. They look and sound great!

Those kevlar rad covers you have. Are they from that German company, 2CR or something like that? What do you think of them? Are they good quality? how are they attached - silicone or screws?

I keep thinking of selling my Akra cans and getting Racefit to do me a pair of their growlers,They quoted me 800 quid last year......

Racefit growlers on an R1.... mmm they are going to look sweet on an SD

To me the Akra Evo cans sound crap and look fuggly, everyone and his dog has them to.............
Tubetechs are similar, I think they look too small:

Back on topic:
If you can get an Akra Y piece most cans will slot in place, Millar has ZX10r cans on his, the akrapovic tri oval ones in full carbon it looks great.
Oh sorry......... I am soooooooo off topic....

I dont suppose Akra or Yoshi will sell a Y piece separately? as I have a spare set of Ducati 748 Termis.

I asked Fuel (over in The Lakes) and they definitely wont. Next stop, Mivv as they supplied me with a separate link pipe for my Yam about a yr ago so I could re-use the Mivv Suono I had.

Does anyone know if an Akra SDR set up fits the standard SD?

cheers

I was thinking about getting a pair of SP Engineering end cans mounted onto an Akra Y piece.

www.spengineering.co.uk

They look good, are quality build (from people I have asked who have them) and sound amazing - checkout the Aprilla Utube link

A guy I have spoken to has done this to his which I think looks cool!

Yeah, I like that. A lot!
Those are the tubetechs!
I had Carbon Can Co pipes on mine. Super cheap and never had an issue - except the mounting brackets they supply are wank. The Akra brackets work fine with the CCC hangers and they cost less than a tenner. All was good after that. Sound nice too.

i adapted a set of two brothers onto mine with an akra y peice i bought off here i think of twisted jester they were off a honda pan european st

These looks pretty sleek but I can't find any sizing information to figure out if they'd fit an SD Y pipe.
They look nice fitted on that aprilia, but look way to long for the sd.
But most pipes made for the sd are to long for that too, if you ask me.

If those Akras made for the aprilia fit my Y pipe, i'll get them and shorten them. The taper on the end cones mimicks the stock SD pipe almost perfectly. But absolutely too long. Easy enough mod to shorten them.

Maybe for the right price coz iv made another new one from neoprene
Has anyone fitted some Akrapovic Yamaha R1 exhausts?

Image
I fitted the same pipes but mine were spec'd for an Aprilia (can't remember which model I'm afraid. They were too long so I cut them down and I think they looked awesome. One of the guys on this forum ended up buying them from me.
