#13The safest bet is, no doubt, what the manufacturer recommends. I also know, however, that I've run regular in numerous bikes over a substantial period of time w/no ill effect. I'm quite sure they put anti-knock additives in the gas here in the U.S. I also know it's not about performance, as that's negligible between the pump gases, for the most part. However, saving money and gaining a little oomph is a bonus. I only report what I've experienced and tested.

#14Of course, I also only change my oil every 5K miles (After the original 5K mark. I change it at 600, 2500, ad 5000 to start w/.) and use the Shell Rotella T synthetic. I just don't believe all the "spend more money on stuff" hype. I've ridden a lot of miles on numerous bikes w/no trouble. Do as your conscience leads you.

#15I've seen soem pumps in the US offering 89 RON....whatever that is...must be more like lemonade than petrol
Anyway, KTM recommend min 95RON in the UK, which is everywhere, so I'll stick with that from now on if todays test goes ok. I just filled up with it so wil not get to ride it till tomorrow.
My revs experiment kinda worked too, revving it higher to gear change brought me 41.4 mpg today (as accurately as i can manage it)....thats UK gallons! Not too shabby I think, more room for improvement though. As i said, weekends are another matter though
