Is there a huge improvement over the stock seat? I'm considering getting one. Thanks!

Anyone in the LA area have the gel seat on their SD? Was thinking of getting one but don't want to waste the cash if it's not going to improvve the butt to bike interface.

If anyone has one and would't mind if I checked it out I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, John
I had one and sold it, I found it worse than the standard seat!
You do need to break in the seat , it does get more plyable with time,,, anything is better than the stocker,,,, there's a gel seat on ebay right now ,, cheap,,,,
I have one. My butt never gets sore. The only issue I have is that my pants sometimes stick to the seat. I don't know if that's caused by the seat or my leather pants though.

John,

Just let me know when you're available and we can meet at the Rock Store, or wherever, and we can swap seats for a while. I'm pretty happy with my gel seat. I guessing I weigh about the same as you (I'm just not as tall ). I've done some 300 mile days without an issue. I do have the issue with my leathers sticking to the seat, especially on hot days, but that may be the leather conditioner I'm using?

Just got done with a short stint on the Gel Seat and I gotta say it's waaayyyy better than stock (at least for someone of my size). The firmer marterial keeps you on top of seat in lieu of sinking down into it allowing you to move much more readily from side to side making quick transitions from left to right much easier (not that it was that difficult before, you just don't have to post up as much). The comfort is substantially better as well.

I'd say if you weigh over 220lbs this is the seat for you. The problem with the stocker is the foam density is so soft that you blow right through it and end up sitting on the hard plastic seat base...not good for freeway expansion joints or bumpy roads. If you are under 200lbs the stocker is probably fine for you.

Crotch, thanks again for letting me take a put with your seat!!! Like I said earlier, I almost didn't come back to the Rock Store, just wanted to keep going. I will not ride the bike again without one!

Hope this helps...sure helped me!

Just bought the Ergo Seat from Smith Powersports in NC for $124.99 including shipping to CA.

They have one left if you're interested.

Does anyone want this guys last seat? It's only $99 plus shipping ($24.90 to CA from NC). It's brand new in box...guy used to be KTM dealer but they wanted to dump too many bikes on him so he ended the relationship. Has a few extra parts that he's blowing out..like this seat.

John
Damn, was hoping to have the gel seat by now. Bummer. Oh well, I guess one more putt on the stocker is not going to kill me.
haven't tried a ktm gel seat but i had one on a monster and the only issue i had was in summer the sun heated the gel up while the bike was parked up that i couldn't sit on it!
seriously, i reckon you could fry eggs on the seat no problem!
course, that won't be an issue to our english members..........
I really liked the one I tried on the converted R.
Your confirmation on the 200lbs+ put me over the edge, I just got the last one about half price compared to local.
That's coming out of my Norton budget
Cool, glad someone on here got it and will put it to good use.
jut bought the last one from smithpowersports off eBay.. thanks for the tip John... I had been thinking of getting the ergo seat for awhile and even was considering getting the orange one (i have the all black '08 SD) ... well the savings on the last black one they had made that decision easier, and so, my SD stays all black.

No worries, glad to help.
Apparent inventory error. No gel for me
