#3Some on here have/have had the wheels and say good things about them, but unless you are very skilled (I'm not) the wheels may make no practical difference to you. One of the regular complaints is range given tank size, but I only see people bitterly complain when they are going on long trips with others and are worried their buddies will be cross. So, unless you are skilled or regularly ride long distances with grouches, I would get the cheaper bike - especially if you think fatty may have abused the more expensive one. Then as weeksy says, you'll have $2,500 for beer.
I'd try to get them to bid against one another to see if I could get the cheaper bike for even less. (And, I love mine and have spent hours getting my parking lines just perfect).

I have always treated my dirt bikes with same abandon, figured that that was what they were built for and 'give it hell'
I have been away from road bikes for more than 10 years and have some reservations about going too nuts just yet.... young one on the way, history of broken bones and bikes behind me also.
I have recently tested the current crop of litre bikes and felt like I was under pressure to use the performance that they offered. Too much for road riding in Australia.
Having said that, Phillip Island awaits at my doorstep!
Bike 2 does offer up the opportunity of having a spare set of a few things for track days, or I could sell them on to buy beer

oh yeah thoughts. um. I'd go Bike #1. prolly less thrashed. (my sd was new. only I have thrashed it. So i know its history)
