Have decided today, after a slight accident that im going to put bike back to standard and sell. Got absolutely no confidence in the bike anymore.
Went out today to get new set of leathers, bought a set of Arlen Ness, was riding home on bike, on outside of traffic, and a car decides he wants to turn left.
I slam on the front brake, and this is the 4th time its done this, ( has happened before when out with Klinck, Shade and Bic on the Finchingfield runs) the bike bounces along.
The car just clipped the side of the bike. only danges is ( what i cant believe) , gear selector bent, rub mark on swing arm slider, my new sidi boots are f**ked, and i reckon ive cracked a bone in foot.

By the way, were is the best plack i can buy another gear selector?
cheers

going to take all parts of bike

Lsl bars
Crg Arrow mirrors
shortie levers
orange guard
belly pan
motohooligan box
full titanuim system
GB racking engine cover set
I much do you want for the full system? Presuming its in good nick. PM if you want to discuss

And your mirrors?
Sorry to hear this mate.

What exactly happened? It's not clear from your post - did the front brake lock up or just not work?

You've done a lot of work to this bike since I last saw you.
I slammed on front brake, but just bounced along as if no grip from tyres, has happened before on finch run, on that sharp bend, when i eneded up on otherside of road.
37 quid for a gear shift lever,

Sounds like a tyre problem?

Shame if this makes you wanna sell. It could happen on any bike, and in my experience the Superduke is one of the best bikes to have an "emergency moment" on, and survive.
Sorry to hear about this mate

If preey doesn't have a gear lever I'm pretty sure superdan has on for sale (in the forsale section)

Was the car indicating? can you claim of his insurance
yer i just found gear leaver but its got no rubber on pm me if you want it
Boucing front end and no grip is problem to be fixed easily with new tyres and suspension setup

But if you're fed up with the SD, good luck on the sell
Just saying; Sometymes in panic situations a little too much adrinalin enters into the equation and what seems like reasonable inputs, were far too much for the suspension and tyre grip to handle. You say that there have been other instances that the bike has acted irratic and you give an example of a tyme that you entered into a turn too hot and grabbed a fist full of brakes and all Hell broke loose.
I hate to see a fellow SD rider make a rash decission, or any rider for that matter. You have a smashingly perfect bike and a little bad luck and forcefull inputs, which are not going to be cured by a replacement steed.
Do not make to forcefull this decission like you did the front brake lever.
Just saying
PMd mate but I feel like a vulture. Have a sleep on it. I came off in february and my heads not right but I'm forcing myself back into it.
when i take all the bits off, i will say on here, and pm the guys that have asked about the stuff,
i will get another bike, but very muuch doubt it will be another KTM.
Dude sorry to hear about your off Sounds weird as I have always found my SD amazing under emergency braking. Hope there is no break in your foot.
Klink, dont suppose you remember, but it happened on last finch run, when i ended up on other side of the road on that sharp bend, after that i was less confident on bike, and this has just topped it,
will still goto finch with ya's when i get another bike, but also got our first baby Due in June, so wont be out as much anyway.

pm sent
Sorry to hear about your problems Ian, don't be too hasty though, if I were you I'd take it to a suspension specialist and ask their opinion and get it set up for you, a small amount of money compared to what you'll lose selling off all your bits and bike.
Sent you a PM !

Lol,
I'm sorry to hear you're planning on selling the ktm, especially considering the reason of the sale.
But if you are really taking it back to stock and selling the parts I'm interested in the Motohooligan airbox (and possibly 2nd butterflies and sas plates)

Nampus
Weird, I've had a moment or two (self inflicted) If I was on the last bike on either of them I would have died (no doubt). The SD has saved me from late braking too, so all I can say from my point of view, get the tyres and suspension sorted and keep the beast.
On the Plus side, hopefully it will only cost me 18QUID to get boots fixed, just been on phone to hideout leathers, and might get away with a new mechanisim
Now that some time has past from your crash date and you might have had some time to refelect, I got a few questions on your time with the SD, because I like to learn from others mistakes. Sooo... How many miles have you ridden this year before you crashed. How many miles have you racked up in your life. (I am closing in on 300,000 miles on sport bikes.) What bikes have you owned before the SD and what bike is next on your shopping list. I have about 2,000 miles racked up on my SD this year and I am really likeing it. No, I mean I love this bike. I have been riding GPZ,s Ninja's, GSXR's for over 25 years. I also ride dirt and dual sport bikes. I know the SD is a light bike with a steep stearing angle. I just don't want to be blind sided by the unknown. Thanks for any and all information.
If you happen to fall off your missus mext time you jump on her....will you sell her to me.
she fall off me lol

Cheers for the box mate too
u fitted it yet ??
Samba, What's with your tail section? I have an 08 SD and am looking for a SDR tail for a next winter project. I am across the pond in Oregon so I am only after fitting questions. What all do I need to make the swap from SD to SDR tail seat section? Do I need a SDR sub frame?
Full Evo System going on tomorrow That is if the lower front header nut comes off ok. Last time I tried it didn't want to budge. Only been on there 6 months or so as well Lashings of WD40 applied.

Cheers again Ian. I can feel the grin growing already, unless that bolt shears off, in which case there is going to be swearing and lots of it!
get some heat on it aswel mate, am sure it will be fine,
good luck
Hey mate, pmed about lsl bars, thanks

Don't do what I did, Craig, and snap the exhaust stud off in your rush to fit the Ti pipes? If you do I have a few spare - ring me when you've snapped it off and I'll let you have a new one!
