Ive just had an email from the guy who i bought my GoPro off and hes offering me the following prices shipped to the UK -

3D housing $115 (£70)
LCD screen $95 (£58)
Motorsport HD camera $250 (£155)

As you can see these are bargains, so if anybodys interested il contact my guy and pass details on to him or we can do a big order!!!

Stew
Bloody Hell that's good.. might have to treat meself...
Interested

Can he sort out the *cough* tax issue?
Yep put me down for one please You might get a bit more discount for group buy eh.
When i had the camera off him he put the value down as £50 for customs, so i only ended up paying about £20 customs tax and that included Parcel Farces £13 that they charge you for collection of items from customs and paying the charges up front.

He can send all items without main packaging and then marks them as gift, you still pay a fee but it is less.

If you look at the Motorsports GoPro camera and reckon on £170 that would cover everything by my reckoning!
where is he based?
I dont know why I would need one of these, or if I could manage to work it.

So if anyone is looking to upgrade I would buy their old Go Pro and see how I get on with that.
Let me know if your doing the group buy Bigash and I wIll send you the money via paypal and include postage on to my address either in the u.k of France.
if he'll ship to belgium as well, I would most definitely be interested as well.
Any progress on the cams bash69 ???
I could be up for an LCD screen and a wrist housing if he can do one.
OK, everybody PM me with exactly what your after, il then email him for a price and find out exactly what he will do with the import duty crapola so i can give you all a defo price (apart from changing currency rates of course)

Then we can move in from there. I have a paypal account to receive the ca$h so no probs there!

I am going to give anybody whos interested until the Tuesday 31st to PM me so i can get the list together. After that its too late

Just ordered one with lcd bacpac and battery bacpac. Really helpful and quick service, still have to wait and see on the shipping.
anyways, prices mentioned by Bash in the first post are shipped prices to anywhere in the world, and they do indeed mark the prices down on the shipping papers and also put it down as a commercial sample, which results in reduced tax and duties. Will post up once I get the final costs after delivery to Belgium.

fyi the battery bacpac was $57 , so payed $402 total. Should end up being cheaper than just the camera at local prices.
I might be interested. But only if the whole GoPro thing works with Mackintosh computers - last thing I need is some software issue that needs a PC to work.

Not being a tecky person, (or having any interest in becoming one), what are the bits you need to be up in business and able to take films from the bike and play them on the computer? Isn't a camera a camera and don't you get a mounting kit also?

If someone could suggest the right package of bits so I'm not left short of something vital that would be appreciated.
double post, sorry
Bic, the package that's on here for $250 has pretty much everything you need. A whole bunch of mouting options (granted there are still some other ones you can get as an additional option), all cables to hook it up to pc or mac. The only thing you still need is video editing software and a decent SDHC card, since you're on a Mac you should be covered for what the editing software is concerned with iMovie.
Personally I would also order the LCD, that way you can preview what you're filming when you mount it, saves you from having to guess and then find out later you were filming the sky
Really want one but need to stop spending so going to hold off buying one ATM.
Bic, it works better on the mac than it does on the PC, for some reason quicktime on the PC skips a couple frames every so many frames, mine used to play videos on the PC ok through vlc player but even that seems to be glitchy now, must have had an update or something, mines not the latest tech but is a powerful gaming laptop so performance shouldn't be an issue which it can be on older PCs

With the mac though it ran straight off the bat through quicktime and imovie is excellent for editing the footage ready for youtube, I usually use Streamclip to chop out the main portion I want first as it opens instantly and then load the shortened version into imovie as this takes time for it to process so the smaller file the quicker it is.

Streamclip also makes it fairly easy to work out your lap times.

The motorsports kit which is priced for in the first post comes with various adhesive mounts and a suction mount but if you're not running a race mask to stick one of these on then you'll probably want to buy the handlebar mount for £20 as well which is what most of us have used.
Postman was at the door today, wasn't home so I'm going to pick it up on Monday. Anyways the total additional costs amount to 10€ so it does indeed make a world of difference how they mark the package, turned out to be a huge deal, thanks for the heads up BASH

Yeah, I'd have thought more takers but I suppose not everyone is a video whore like some of us
As I'm also located in Belgium I contacted the seller directly. I also asked price for the chest mount harness.

EDIT: chest harness is not in stock and no ETA.
just a heads up for people ordering the LCD bacpac ... you need to update the GoPro's firmware as well from here , there are video's explaining how to on there as well.
If you don't update the firmware the lcd will just produce some crackling noise from the speaker but show no image. This might cause some slight panic if you're like me and just pop it on without reading the manual first but it works fine after the firmware update.
I ordered min direct and it arrives tomorrow (failed delivery notice today) - no handlebar mounts in stock.
Need my bike back now!
Then hopefully heading down here

http://www.grande-traversee-alpes.com/m ... trail.html

and poss put the bike on the train back to paris to save the boring bits
Mine arrived yesterday - excellent job - paid none of the extra tax - Had a look in box and see there are lots of mounting options to play with - just need my bike back from the dealers and to decide where to mount the thing
Another happy customer - cool
All monies received and parts ordered last Thursday, i have your address`s so i will quickly test all bits then get them all in the post for you guys!

Stew
Orders turned up today, all parts tested and working so hopefully they will all be coming out in the post tommorow for you guys

Ben

Stew
I've had a go pro sitting here for 2 months (from the supplier Ash suggested - thanks mate.)
Apart from a quick look in the box I've done zip with it.

I've just ordered the handlebar mount.

Some questions:

What size and type of SD card do you suggest? Ash can you suggest a quick and good supplier. (I think you did before but I've tried search with no luck.)
How much time do these cards hold?

How long does the battery last and do you guys buy a second one?
Kingston 16bg class 4. You can't go wrong as long as you buy from legit place. NOT FLEABAY! I bought mine on Amazon and they were good as gold. £15-ish each.

I bought a second battery but it refuses to charge now One battery is good for a full 16gb worth of shooting. 2 cards, 2 batteries makes sense.
Thanks, which mode (r1-r5) do you use for video?

R2 -720 30fps?
R3 mainly. It's great for slow motion replays when certain things happen...

Does obviously take up twice as much space being 60fps.
Yeah don't bother with a 32GB card as it'll outlast the battery anyway and you pay a premium for the bigger size and I know your thrifty , and like Klincky says, just buy the Kingston Class 4 16GB cards, the cameras were tested with those during design and work flawlessly, unlike the supposedly higher class name brand cards I first bought.

I have 2x16gb cards and 2 batteries

1 card recording on r3 720p@60fps will last about 2.5 hours or something can't remember exactly, about the same amount of time as the battery.

I think r3 setting as well as doing the slomo also represents the high speed better and has less horizontal shimmer on playback.

For POV work though pete you'll want really good lighting as not so good in low light and 1080p for less wide angle, not sure if the rain-x trick on the lens works with body fluid though
What's the easiest software (PC) to use for simple editing - just cutting bits out etc?

Hey are the Go Pros still available at this price? I want to get my brother a birthday present! Anyone know the cheapest place to get one? I'd prefer the helmet mounting kit if pos too but will take whatever I can get!

Cheers!
