Got another KTM :excited:

So Kowekiller (old forum member) finally bugged me enough and convinced me to pick up a supermoto. I've only rode it around town for 10minutes so far but I can already tell it's tons of fun. Can't wait to take it out to the canyons.
It came with all kinds of goodies too For example: full titanium akra exhaust, STM slipper clutch, Alpina wheels, KTM racing yokes, Beringer brake/clutch/master cylinder, beringer front caliper, brembo rear caliper, ktm racing wave rotors, SS brake lines, etc.

It's a 2007 KTM 525 EXC turned SMR (This is replacing my Speed Triple; may it sell soon!)

Are these things more obnoxious than the superduke with the baffle removed? I noticed it's still in there lol

On the tight twisty stuff that will be insane fun. If they hand out points for doing wheelies you might be banned soon

Those 525's are no joke, I rode one (albeit with knobbies on the street) and it was pretty insane.

That's all well and good and looks like a blast and if the canyons are in your backyard, the seat won't be an issue and I'm jealous and please don't make yourself follow the other retards on thier motards and start sticking your leg out around bends.
Keep um on the pegs where they belong

Awesome bike! Need to ride mine again soon. I agree completely with dribble, it's way more fun to drag your knee than it is to drag your foot. Enjoy!

You will love this bike!!

I rode a LC4 640 Supermoto for five years before getting the SD. Full Akra system, Beringer brake like that with cast iron disc. It was insane fun.

But listen up to Klinky and me. Within a year I was on maximum points on my license, (9) and any issue I would be banned. For years I was constantly losing points off and picking new ones up. I can't describe it but these bikes make you ride like a fooking loony. I got done for speeding but got pulled for wheelies and stoppies mostly. Problem really was that the gearing and acceleration made it almost impossible to leave a set of lights and keep under 30mph. In London they put cameras right at the second gear change point so if you are any way enthusiastic or just enjoying the bike you push over 35 and, 'bang!' they've got you. (Also the camera picture they send you is on the back wheel. Not going to impress any court!)

This bike encourages wheelies because it's so torquey and wants to do it all the time. With that brake, (and the right tyres), you can do a stoppie at almost insane speeds. It's addictive. I can't do them as well on the SD, it's to heavy and the front end just digs an and the bugger stops but these bikes are so light - you can start to do gymnastics on them.

Six years on the SD I have a clean license now.

Enjoy but be warned.

How not to ride a supermoto:

I was riding with this kid on this day. He crashed four times, in four different locations, with this one being caught on film.

Yeah, go to Adams. If you are lucky maybe Max Biagi will be there to give you some pointers as he's been known to show up there (along with Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies).

Someone needs to teach him proper throttle control! That or he needs a bike with traction!

Mate, they are weird to ride after a normal sportsbike. It takes some adjusting. But actually after years on one I was used to being really over the front end and it makes me ride a sportsbike differently now.

I actually don't agree with the knee down thing on a SM. If you start to play with your leg out it feels good after a while. You can lay these bikes down what seems far more than a road bike. I'm not an experienced off-rider so I had to learn a load of new habits but letting the back end loose and leaning the front and just generally letting everything go relaxed seems to work in a way that I wouldn't ever do on a road bike. Having your leg out makes sense after a while. I can't remember properly now but it felt like everything was at the front and the back did what it wanted to but I wan't that bothered because the bike behaved itself so much and looked after me. (does this make sense to more experienced SM riders??? )

Get yourself a pair of heavy duty motocross boots though, sports boots are not up to the abuse!

my first bike was a motard (yamaha wr250x with a 290cc big bore kit).. have missed it ever since. I used to wheelie it, slide it, jump sets of stairs, jump roundabouts, cut curbs and just act like a maniac on it. My only suggestion is ride with leathers as you do crash a bit when backing it in on mountain passes... it doesnt hurt and the bikes are normally fine (dirt bikes are meant to be crashed).. you just slide out.. walk over pick it up and keep going. (whereas the SD gets ridden hard and have never come off it... except when i was hit by a car.. cars fault)

there is nothing quicker on a tight mountain pass, remember blasting past so many sport bikes on my local mountain (read very tight)... round the inside/outside... wherever.. the amount of speed that you can throw into a corner with these things in low speed corners is hilarious.

You have inspired me to go get a 690smc r.. always wanted one. I miss being a complete moron on the roads (impossible not to be on a motard).

i even used to ride off-road trails with road tyres. ... teaches you how to slide well.. bugga you have cost me at least 13 grand from this post...

Kid...Bi-ting!

The young buck you are... Your an inspiration to us getting older folk. Aghhhhh the good ol' days. Have fun on your motard. Just don't fook it up! Ride within your limits. I think there's a lot of people on this forum who have watched you grow and mature since you were a newb to the sight. I think your gonna be alright!

Cheers!

Now go have some good clean fun!

These crash well don't they? Haha jk jk.

I'm going to probably take this instead of the superduke this Sunday when I go riding with Aphex and somwone from the site. Nothing like getting hands-on learning experience. Aphex probably will have pointers.

I may be young but my body feels old lol. Me maturing..... maybe a little
