After only 5 weeks i got my cast off. I can hardly more my thumb or finger and start physical therapy on tuesday. They gave me a brace for my thumb to wear at work but at least i can now take a proper shower. I go back to the doc in 4 weeks at which point i'm hoping to be able to get back on a bike. right now i couldn't even grip the bars even if i had a bike.

Glad to hear your on the road to recovery ( or at least on the road to getting back on the road ) Advice from someone that's been there, Hit the rehab therapy hard and don't just go through the motions. When I went to therapy it seemed like most of the people were just passing time and didn't want work at it.

Good luck, Kuerbis
Therapy is extremely important. heal up and get back on the bike!
congrats on the cast coming off! and good luck w/ PT. Work hard on ur exercises and you WILL get back to riding
Awesome. I'll be down in Temecula next week. I'll pop into the KTM store and see if Andre has a SD with your name on it.
Congrats dude - il give you 2 weeks and your back on a bike
Looks to be quite unconfortable,,, I too had a dis-location of my thumb many years ago due to a dirt bike fall ( a Penton ! ) I didn't have surgery, and to this day it still will pop out once in a while,, hurts the dogs ,until I give it a twist and pop it back,,, PT at this stage is everything,, streach it until it hurts get a power grip thing and work it often,,,,,
I know of a good exercise device that will help you recover. You might have seen them, or will see one. Here is what you need to make it. A set of your favoret m/c hand grips, a 32 inch long tube of 7/8 inch hollow tube stock, and a 5 foot long piece of rope. Tie the rope to the middle of the bar and duct tape it so it will not spin on the bar. Secure the grips to the bar. You will have to make up the diference between the loud handle side (right) with more duct tape. Tie the other end of the rope to a gallon milk jug and add water as you gain strength. Hold the bars straight out in front of you and roll the milk jug up and down. TWIST AND SHOUT
I feel your pain, I popped a ligament off of my thumb (Anterior Cruciate Ligament on my right thumb to be exact) and I remember the day I got the cast off and went to the brace. It felt so much better to have that off, I took a few months to get full strength but it does get better. Good luck.
