Had a small accident yesterday

Hi guys. It has been proven again that I'm born for bad luck

I had an accident yesterday.

What happened. For all the left side drivers reading this, I'm in Belgium and we drive at the right side of the road

This all happened on a busy road, 50KpH zone. I was not driving too fast. It all happend in a fraction of a second.
A parallel parked car left it's parking spot without watching.
As there was no oncoming traffic I veered left to avoid hitting him. At this moment he still hadn't seen me and he decided to turn left in the street a couple of meters away! I didn't even have time to sound my horn.
I hit him in the side. I did not fall down.

Coolant fluid started gushing on the street. Thank god for the upper frame crash protection. I only have a couple of bruises on my knee. I don't know what would have happened to my leg if I did not have the crash protection installed... I bruised my index finger (I think flipping over his mirror). I always wear my gloves, so no other nasty wounds/cuts to my hand.

Damage at first sight:
Right hand tank spoiler: cracked and severly scratched
Radiator: cap broken off
Right hand brake lever: bent
Front fender: scratched
Front wheel, small scratch on the outer edge

What do you guys think that should be carefully checked after this?

As the radiator is broken, I cannot ride her anymore

The person who cut me off changed his statement to that he wasn't leaving his parking spot and that he was just driving there!

Luckily I had a witness that was so kind to wait for the police (they took a while...) to make his statement. He could declare that I wasn't speeding and that the driver actually left a parking spot.

The case will have to appear for police court.

Damage to the car (cropped from a quickly snapped cell phone picture). If you look closely, you can see the dent from the crash protection.

Thanks for the sympathy.
Here are some pictures. It's very difficult to take pictures of the scratches on the black plastic of the front fender so I haven't included one.

Hi Bert, Glad your unscathed and lived to tell us how you weathered the storm.

The thing about luck is be careful not to curse yourself, this is quite easy to do. I call it "the power of suggestion".

In your words are power, you control the power first by thinking it, then to speak it adds a new dimension to the equation, lastly after you have put it to words you will come to live it in action.

Best to control your luck by wishing all positive thoughts, then back that up with positive words, then they will become positive outcomes. Really can be deduced as glass half full or half empty.

When I ride through a particular area I evaluate it, if it is too populated or especially many people seem distracted by cell phones and such, I drive rather than ride.
Thanks for al the sympathy guys!
Talked to the insurance. They said that as there is a witness I shouldn't worry too much.
