Did the RPM of the motor jump up to 3K or was it just the tach reading 3K?
Have you washed the bike recently?

#7I've had issues with fluctuating speedos caused by a loose connection on the battery where the bolt had loosened off a bit, worth a check.

Lowrance...no, the motor didn't do it, just the tach. I gave the bike a little gas to get going and both the tach and speedo went crazy until I shut her off and restarted. Electrical glitch caused by ??? Who knows. Hope it doesn't happen again. I do need to get her on a battery tender though. Not sure how long the battery will lasy w/o one.
Thanks for the responses. I'm loving this bike...but...I still think 3 days into owning and riding it that first gear is too high! I might try a tooth or two on the rear?
