Homemade air intake vs rottweiler etc

Hello, question is simpel, is there anybody that have homemade air intake on the 990 ?
Why and why not build your own air intake?

was thinking just make some intake that will fit on these;


What do u guys think? it's much cheaper then a rottweiler kit etc. i also must fix the air temp sensor somplace there.
