Hi, guys, time has come for me to pimp my ride with a paire of akra's. i have seen a set but are without original bufflers. and while the guy will through a set in (non original) i wanted to get a feel about what the general setup is.
here is my scenario, i have 2007 sd, standard trim planning to install akras with motohuligan later on and place an akra map for the near future.
Question is, for your normal day to day riding (with the odd wheeling, fast overtaking and long journeys) with bafflers or without bufflers.
The original akra map is suitable for with bufflers or not?
what do you have your bike setup like, long term?
have always run mine without baffles i like the popping and scaring old people on over run, its loud but i like it loud.
i got the standard map, it was a bit snatchy at 1st but you get used to it with a careful hand.
I ride without the DB killers, and pass trackday noise tests registering between 98 & 102 DB.

Db killers in, cut down slightly and with a few additional slits in them........a little louder but not a headache ..
db killers in - I like to ride without too much noise - its nice to have some noise,it helps for safety - but I dont like the sound it makes with the db killers out.

This work pretty well and there is a detailed topic on here that goes into it.

I carried out this mod and it works quite well, nowhere near as loud and a definite improvement of standard DB killers.

second pic is obviously the internal view, best I could get it.
That said I dont ride with them fitted (maybe why the wife thinks Im going deaf)
never used dB killers on any bike, i don't think the akras are that loud anyway, rode a mates and it wasn't that bad, my S4R with arrows is stupid loud compared to the akras on the KTM.

I use foam DB killers....one in each ear, works a treat! Love my Akras!!
Never use the DB Killers because loud exhausts save lives. Never had any problems at the track(s).
Also to answer your question about maps there are two Akro maps - one for baffles in one for baffles out. They are fairly similar.

Also it is so easy to remap the ECU (TuneECU etc) that it is not an issue as to what configuration you use - just remap before you go out.

I dont think its loud, mine passed a sound check 104db at 5500rpm my trx with a full system used to set car alarms of
at cadwell park without baffles my akra evo's tested at 97db at 5000rpm...... the missus round akra's same conditions tested at 98db

..... neither of us ever run with the baffles in
